Been trying to work out how much this will cost, but can't make much sense of the websites.

Have any of you ever bought a zonecard/railcard, and know how they work, and more importantly, cost?

I'm starting Uni down in ayr next month, currently live in glasgow, and will be traveling down by train. I know the return fare from Glasgow central to ayr is 8.90 a day, but would I be cheaper to get a card of some sort?? and how much?

If you are under 25 years of age, it may be a good idea to get a young person's railcard, which would shave off a third off a regular ticket price. The more often you travel back and forth, the more a good idea it is. The rail card itself costs about £24 to £26 so it's up to you to weigh out your budget over the year. You have to renew ithe railcard every year for about the same price.

I've got the 16-25 one, think it's £20 for the year and you save a third, well worth it. If you're traveling every day then definitely get one.
