Because they just create divisions. These and orange bands need to disappear.

Political movements in general tend to do that.

I don't believe these serve a point though. Nor do I see Orange bands as celebrating a 'culture'. Move on, I say.

Its all about opinions and freedom of speech my friend but i'll say one thing - your a million miles off the mark if you are comparing repubican bands to the orange order/loyalist bands. They have absolutely zilch in common.

    Ouch.

Why are they so ridiculous to compare?

    Debatable.
I know many Republicans who think the time has come for bands to be disbanded on both sides.

I dont agree with them, but i absolutely see where they are coming from.
In fact this last 5 years, most marches have about 10% of people going to them than they would have had.

To summarise it, loyalist bands are completely riddled with sectarian, anti-catholic thugs. There is no educational profit from being in a loyalist flute band. Loyalist flute band/orange order parades thrive on causing tensions with the routes they parade on.

The republican bands (that i associate with anyway) are the opposite of this.

The number of people following a republican commemoration does not matter to me though. I know to some republican bandsmen it does but id rather march alone than march with a crowd going in the wrong direction.

Its all about peoples opinions really.

Yes but i live in a Republican stronghold so you know when the number are bad here they are going to be horrific everywhere else,
When i was a child i remember 1000's going to marches and parades, now you would be lucky to have 100, and most of them are family members of the volunteers.
    Says it all really.

One side goes on about 1690 and the like and one side goes on about 1916 and the like. If you think that there aren't plenty of sectarian republicans in these groups who thrive on causing tension then I'm astonished. It's all a lot of nonsense and I wish both sides would just give it up.

You sound like a very narrow minded individual reading your perception of a republican flute band.
