Had a thought that maybe if the board don't give Martin the cash for Craig Bellamy it may just persuade him to leave Celtic. I certainly think it would be a gross lack of vision from upstairs if we don't sign him. I know we are financially restricted because of the crappy SPL but surely a club the size of Celtic can scrape 5m for a player of Bellamy's talents, plus we'll be saving 40,000 on Juninho. It's a once in a blue(ok green) moon opportunity. How often does a gifted player like Craig Bellamy pledge his immediate future to a club in Scotland ? My own opinion is that Bellamy will be a long term Celtic player, I certainly hope so..

Agree mate...if he cant get some money to strengthen the team how can he progress..lets face it..every manager and player wants to progress...and if leaving Celtic means he can progress then he will..no point being a Celtic manager for many years and winning * all or even challenging in Europe...

I reckon he would be great...

Bellamy alone is not the answer tho..i still reckon we need a defender (or 2) and a top notch goalie...

Always comes back to trying to attract the best players tho..apart from not being able to afford them they dont want to play in SPL...

the board needs to realize that spendin a lil now on bellamy likely means a much larger return on that investment later on...From what i heard on saturday, he looked like larsson....

i think if we sign him and get a halfway decent draw in the CL....well make the knockout stages

It's a great bit of business but only temporary. Bellamy won't stay he's too good for Scotland and you bet he knows it.

Still, if we win the league now it'll be the best loan deal ever signed. As for MON walking? I can't imagine him setting an ultimatum like that. He'll just wait for manure

I know a lot of you are going on about the board and how they should part money for Bellamy and i agree 100% but before any of that Im not entirely sure that Bellamy even wants to stay with Celtic.

I can't make up my mind, on one hand some of the things he says suggest he would but then other things seem to me like he is planning on going back to England. He is also far more talented than the SPL majority and how happy would he be to stay in this league? However, he seems to have taken to the fans and the fans him, he has a great manager in MON and good team mates. The decisive thing I feel, will be the lure of the Champions league. And one last thing, the only people in England he should consider really are MANU, Chelsea and Arsenal and I can't see any of them making a move for him. Liverpool may be the exception here.

Anyways, i've rambled on too much but the point is the board should play their part and make him a tempting offer. The fans have done theirs by being supportive and making him feel welcome. I can't say for MON or the players but they seem to get on fine in public.

Get your money on the table ya miserable lot!

mmmm i wouldnt really blame o'neill if he did go,coz what the * does it take for the board to fork out some money!and bellamy is worth it!though i cant really see him leaving if we dont sign bellamy!

It would be a bad management style but i'd love to see MON give the board an ultimatum and make it public too, ghod knows he'd have the backing of 99% of celtic fans.

wish myself he would do it but... ... ... I still think he has manure on his agenda - don't think this would be the kind of signal he would send out to magnier and mcmanus as prospective future employers - don't see anyone holding them to ransom

Remember... the £25 million coming from the Nike deal (£5m per season) is probably an insignificant figure in comparison to the sum of money celtic will haul in from actually selling the strips, shorts, training wear...

As we saw on Saturday bellamy's a class act! if the board dont do all they can within teir power to keep him, it certainly tells us something about the ambition of the board. £5m for a single player is a massive sum of money but i really believe that a player of bellamy's class can take us places!

If we dont strengthen the team for next season theres absolutely no chance of us making any progress in Europe. Therefore no chance of celtic clearing out any of their debt... therefore no transfer funds for the future.

Remember board... the last time you spent a bit of cash on our team we won the trebble & went to a european final. it's time to cough up!!
