me and my ten year old son want to know why his favourite player and mine Aiden McGeady was not on from the start, i cant fathom Strachans train of thought here , Mcgeady was brilliant against rangers last time, why play Shaun Maloney, just back from injury ahead of Mcgeady, it just does not make sense.

Strachan probably wanted to use Aiden as an impact sub.

Think he thought Maloney was fit enough and would do a better job than McGeady.

McGeady helped create and probably shouldve finished the best chance we had.
I think he shouldve started the game tbh.

McGeady done nothing when he came on, Maloney done nothing when he was on. Both terrible, couldn't get the better of Christian Daily * sake.

I never thought Aiden wouldn't start. He had been playing decent and with Weir and Whitaker there for the taking. Shame it didn't work out, but Maloney should have been capable to hold his own.

    agreed

the thinking was to keep the centre of the park clogged up so to dampen rangers there and allow hinkel and o'dea to bomb on and get some balls in for jan . good plan i think . but don't think it worked the way we had planned :50:

Like WGS, I would always pick Maloney ahead of Aidan. He is simply a better player. Aidan is usually in the pocket a Greyskull. Certainly from what I saw WGS made the right decision because Aidan did less than Shaun when he came on. Trying to make this as some sort of crucial decision is wrong. It was like for like. It was the sort of team many fans wanted with Crosas in, no mick, OD at LB etc etc and the ball players playing and trying to win playing football.

It was just one of those days. We played like demons and passed very well but they just formed an impenetrable wall ones they got the break away goal. There are few football teams in the world that can guarantee breaking down that sort of tactics. We should know because we have used them so often against better CL teams.

Should have started considering how well he played against them at Hampden, he can certainly feel harsh done by.

probably the most baffling decision he's ever made, and there's been many.

he didn't have long enough to really have an impact. although he did create for himself our only real good chance.

maloney, as usual, brought absolutely nothing to the team.

And what did McGeady do when he "created this chance all by himself"?....* it, nice one

there's no getting past his shhoting quality, but it was still more than maloney. keep maloney for home games againg the likes of falkirk and hamilton. he seems to always play well against tjose world class sides.

I was a bit baffled when the teams were read out at ipox today as to why Aiden was on the bench with a half fit maloney starting but when he did come on i didn't think he did anything to pressure them. As everybody else has pointed out Aiden never does anything at ipox and the last time we visited in December Aiden was suspended and we beat them 1-0 to go 7 points clear.

Im thinking the conditions ,the rain was relentless and the park was heavy as anything ,He used both of them maybe due to this which i think is pretty fair although Maloney didnt do any damage .
