Leaving aside players who are in and around the first team - Henderson, McGregor, Fisher, O'Connell - is there anyone in the academy or development squad good enough to make the step up to first team football next season?

We let a lot of young players go in the Summer there, so there are only a few names left that I recognise.

Findlay, on loan at Dumbarton, is very highly rated by Scotland U21's - he's 19 with 11 caps.

Would be great if we could produce good defenders - seems like all the talent is in midfield these days. Not just at Celtic, but generally in football

He just has it, another box to box player with energy, pace, bit of dig, can pick a pass and scores plenty goals..

Miller has been mentioned, and againt England and the others (his age group) in the victory shield, he stood out massively. He is a 2/3 years off first team material probably as he's only this year broke in to the under 20's at what 16 coming on 17. Quite developed physically for his age and has some nice flair, bit of arrogance, good left peg and is deffo going places..

Thomson is our best prospect by a mile, it's not even funny how far ahead of the rest he is.

I think the academy whilst being relatively successful, could do a bit more. Maybe when the league or if it is wrapped up early we should breed a few more youngsters through. Ronnie has a good reputation with youth and now he's finding his feet I would like to see one or two others joining big Henderson in the first team squad.

I asked Dumbarton fans what they thought of Findlay. Got a lot of different responses:

McMullan seems to score a fair bit for the development squad, so him.

I guarantee Findlay gets nowhere near our first team.

Quickest player in the Celtic squad :56:
