Who could we replace Ange with?

  1. Could argue we are getting a better coach than the one we lost to Tottenham

It's looking like Iraola will be the next Almeria manager.

Bit of a weird move, seems like a backwards step from Vallecano. Narrows down the field even more for us either way.

Aye for me that's not the issue, my unease about him is because he's an ego-maniac and has proven himself to be absolutely full of * in the past on so many occasions. Going to find a guy like that hard to get behind to be honest.

On a footballing level I have my reservations too. Don't need to bring up his transfer record again, and to be honest I think his style of football is getting slightly stale. I'm just praying he comes in and plays high tempo stuff like the first year here and not the dull death-by-possession stuff with two sitters.

Anyway, I said I wasn't going to go on about it again and I've * it.

Maybe he's not as sought after as many feel, if that's the case.

I think we could have Knutsen. I firmly believe he's second choice though.

Maresca is second choice for me I think mate. No even convinced Knutsen is a target outwith being touted because it’s an obvious candidate we should have a look at.

You’d think he’s one that needs to move soon though, to further his own career. Ajax have moved on from him by all accounts.

Mate, I’m saying Knutsen should be first choice. So, yeah: precisely!

His move to Ajax fell though I can’t see him moving to us even if he was first choice.

It’s looking like Brendan Rogers unfortunately.

Think the 2nd choice is Maresca this time round tbh. As soon as it was obvious Ange was away I was Potter or Knutsen, so I’d be delighted with him but I do think short term at least, Rodgers is the safest option if guaranteed continued success. I have a lot of things against Rodgers in his last spell, and a very small amount of that is how he left, but there’s no denying just how good a job he done and how good a coach he is.

I’m hoping if its round 2, we’ve learned not to give him the power to make they same mistakes, but also learned those above him shouldn’t overstep they’re mark and think they know football more than him and back him.

Different leadership now though, who has proven he’ll back a manager.

Lawwell has been sent on a wee UEFA focused BD mission to Turkey whilst Nicholson and DD crack on.

I'm hoping, thinking even, things have definitely changed.

A lot has altered since Rodgers was last here.

Aye. I’ve actually always been open to the prospect of him coming back. Way he left was poor, but he isn’t alone in that in football these days. Time goes on, things change (Lawwell no longer running the organisation day-to-day helps, for instance), and I think he’d do a great job, so I’d be actually more than happy to have him. To me, though, Knutsen is going to go to the top of the game, or should do anyway. It’s his ability to develop, deconstruct and reconstruct a squad. That is so vital to a club in our position these days. Couple that with the football, the vision (blended with flexibility that Ange didn’t have one ounce of), and the relative European success, and for me, he’s just the most attractive option by far.

Would be delighted with Rodgers, for the reasons you state and more, but tbh I’d have a tinge of regret re Knutsen.

    Here the whole time
If its Rodgers I will be sick to my stomach. I despise the *, whenever I see him on telly I feel physically angry. Even just thinking about him and typing this out is getting me seriously annoyed.

He cannot be trusted in the transfer market and we need a number of additions to the squad even before the inevitable loss of 2 or 3 key 1st team regulars. He will add dross and dilute the already threadbare quality of the overall squad. We have a good core of regular starters but the rest of the squad have recently proven they either have huge question marks over them or are clearly not up to standard at all. The rat isn't the man to rectify this.

He will lose intrest in the job, probably even quicker than he did before, leading to the same stale uninspired performances we saw for much of the last 18 to 12 months of his last tenure, or worse. This is something he won't get away with this time around, given he will be facing a harder domestic challenge than he ever did previously.

I * hate him with a passion and think he is an overrated charlatan. If he is appointed I honestly don't know how i will deal with it.

So many people are missing the point which is strange because it’s an easy one to understand.

We aren’t angry because Brendan Rogers left it’s because he left halfway through the season and tried to take his back room staff with him. Oh and he claimed he was a Celtic fan and the weird stories and Danny Mcgrain lies.

Compare that to Ange who never claimed to be a Celtic fan and actually rejected offers from English clubs during the season. He left at the end of the season which was gutting but understandable.

    Completely different situations.

What offers did Ange reject during the season?

I think if he was given the option to leave earlier or risk losing the job he'd have done the same as Rodgers, let's be honest. I'm also pretty sure Rodgwrs would have rejected offers during the first 2.5 years of his spell here due to the success he had.

It's all hypothetical anyway at this point.

Knutsen as well, hasn’t tested himself at that higher level yet, it’ll be in his ambitions just like it was for Ange. Rodgers being there and done that, left us already (with a longer tenure than Ange had) it could be the case he knows what he wants now after being there and doing that.

As long as we as a club keep up with his personal standards as well. Probably stretching with that but it’s a consideration.

There’s been reports of him knocking back 3 offers during the season. If they suited him he’d have left then, lets not kid ourselves, when did we get Ange? Halfway through a season for his current club in Japan. He took us to heart, delivered success, left us in a great position and left us when he got the chance to further the own ambitions that has driven his career. That is * faultless for me.

What I also know for * sure, if the board * about Ange like they did Rodgers it wouldn’t have needed an offer, he’d have rammed the job down their throats whilst telling them to * off.
