Hey, I'd like to discuss the situation about Saltires being flown at Celtic Park. I'm a proud Celtic fan and I understand the history and foundation of our great club. What I can't understand is why there's next to no Saltires flown apart from the one sitting on the North Stand.

Celtic FC is a SCOTTISH club with IRISH roots. There's plenty of Tri-Colours, but no Saltires. I know having the Huns waving Saltires and the colour co-ordination might put my fellow Tims off waving it but I really feel that shouldn't be much of an issue. Green & white Saltires would also be fine!

I'm not saying only wave Saltires, I'd like to see both flags flying high!

Please leave your thoughts and opinions about this issue.

Mate, it's a forum, he can bring up whatever issues he likes whenever he likes.

And, for the record, I agree 100% about the saltires.

I just cannot stomach the SFA, so I can't bring myself to support Scotland. Sad but true. And all this recent bullshit with mculloch/boyd/ferguson/mcgregor all basically being welcomed back tells me everything i need to know about that organisation, and more importantly what they think of the jersey and the fans.
I have no reason to support them. I don't know how I'll feel when the qualifiers start, but if these aforementioned * are playing then i'll probably root for the opposition.

We are a Scottish club so the Saltire should be flown- to be honest we do that- and I see it at our away games in Europe.
    No big deal.
    And I have a kilt too!!!! Yeahhah!:56:

Can you not just go through the old post history to find out what people think about this?

    It's been done to death.

:50: Exactly. Biggest game of the season coming up. The only flag I care about getting flown at Parkhead is the league flag.

Yeh they could take them to parkhead.. but as you've probably seen on the forum every once in a while you will get some idiot hurl abuse at them not to wave it as if its some kind of white flag giving into THEM as if were cut from the same cloth.

Im 100% behind the Saltire getting waved as it is our national flag and should be used more.

I dnt see why this keeps coming up tae be honest. Am a celtic and scotland fan but dnt see the need too go to the games with a saltire wen your ther to support celtic. If you want to bring one a have no prblem with it,batter it. A understand were a scottish club but no other clubs fans in the spl do it exept the mankys so why should we. Its a blue n white flag, rangers colours at the end of the day. A will be keeping mine for the scotland games.:50:

I've been watching the Winter Olympics and find all the patriotism a bit cringworthy.. The "Im proud to be canadian" T-shirts and the like.. I know it's people showing their support and whenever I see a Saltire it's either at an International football , rugby , tennis match or at an event where we play under the initials of GB.. (I suppose all home nations do the same with their countries flags to show support for their countrypeople and maybe to get the message across that there's Scottish , Welsh , Irish involvement also , and not just English people taking part , as often seems to be the way that it was put across).. The downside is when a Saltire is being sported publicly by some ned who you just know will be bearing his * to all at the first opportunity he gets which shows us in a bad light , but I feel the Saltire has been stigmatised when it comes to us Celtic fans at Celtic games , with some people probably feeling we neglect our Scottish roots in favour of our Irish roots and waving a saltire would either be interpreted as some kind of token gesture or seen as some kind of display of defiance by a minority within a divided support , which in reality is total bollocks and not even an issue (except for the occasional thread about it on forums)..
As someone already mentioned , there's a Saltire flying at the stadium 24 hours a day which is good enough for me but as with most things , it's each to their own and the people who complain should be the ones setting their own example..

I think a lot of it has to do with the colours. If the shoes don't match the suit don't wear the shoes =/

I consider myself Mr Scotland, not just for my superior lOOks but I love ma wee country. I wear my kilt when abroad with the hOOps despite a few idiots taking offence to it. I have a 12ft saltire but I don't take it to the games, mainly coz I couldn't be arsed but also because the colours don't fit. Doesn't mean I love my country any less and I don't substitute it with Irish or upside down Ivory Coast flags =)

Like I said, save for a few eejts I reckon it's down to the colour.

i took one to the arsenal game with me. don't see the point in taking a saltire to league games though as we're playing other scottish teams. also when abroad with celtic i've always worn my kilt
