There’s been chat about this in another thread and it deserves its own.

    Celtic’s JFK moment.

    What’s your story?

    I was 15 years old.

I was at Gayfield Park, Arbroath, that day watching Arbroath clinch promotion. I had my wireless in and basically sat on the terrace listening to the commentary from Paradise the whole 90mins. Gave it big licks when the goals went in and i wasn’t the only one there who was obviously keeping an eye on things (@Pinstripe ?? :84:)

Amazing feeling and I remember a ridiculous sense of relief too. Biggest weight ever off our shoulders. Taped Sportscene that night along with a couple of news bulletins and watched them over and over again

My old man drove me through to Glasgow the next day and we went to the Celtic Shop and stocked up on all the gear, t-shirt, flag, stickers etc. I ended up sitting my Standard Grades wearing a Champions Polo Shirt :ynwacelti

Was only 11 and played football that day but I remember knowing Celtic had stopped the 10 and my da was ecstatic listening to it on the radio home. Saw a bus driver clutching a Celtic scarf in hope that we had done it, could see obviously he hadn't heard. My da then pointed at the scarf then his heart then cheered(we were in the car going opposite direction) just saw the bus driver cheering as he realised result was in our favour. Brilliant feeling.

I remember the year before, or perhaps earlier that season, walking out if celtic park with my uncle after being bearing by the late huns, I must have been 10 or 11 and there was a kid maybe a couple years older, 14 or 15 at most, sitting on the railing/bars that used to go around the car park on kerrydale Street at the front of the stadium. Clearly waiting for his old man who must have been snagging a burger. But the kid was in tears, head in his hands, in his scarf, and I recall the feeling I had wasn't quite as strong as his. My uncle stopped for a moment and patted the kid on the shoulder and said "don't worry kid, we will get them next time" kid gave a forced smile and everyone went on with their day, almost a nothing moment to me at the time.
But later on I kept wondering why it was so emotional for him. At the age I knew all about football and that the huns were our big rivals, they were on a massive streak etc, but the importance of the 9in a row and how bitter they are etc hadn't really sunk in.
Only a couple years previous we had been at hampden and won the cup etc, I remember those days and sort of knew/felt we should always be winning something as well. Think to me, it was swings and roundabouts at the time.

So I had talked to the uncle, my dad and others who had sneaked me in to the pub for a coke before Match days for the rest of that season and slowly got to understand the importance and determination that we had to win the league back, and quick.

Then we get to that day, St johnstone, celtic park, a must win game.
I only remember one other goal as much as I do Larsson first, the famous 6-2 chip).
Sat in block 110(honestl * knows if that's what It was called before the stadium was finished), I had a perfect view of the goal, Larsson picks up the ball on the left wing, runs a little, then cuts in and runs parallel to the goal (always remember that clear and direct line he takes) before skelping it to the far corner of the net. Right in front of me, perfect view, the whole support went * nuts.
Being honest, second goal I don't even remember, the crowd around me was madness, other end of the park and I struggled to see much with everyone on their feet to watch, but it didn't matter. Think the crowd had already celebrated before brattback even touched the ball.

Absolutely amazing feeling to be caught up in it all. Having seen that kid earlier in the season and finding out why it meant to much, I just knew what that feeling was about when we won. And never again would our support let that situation happen.

I don't recall much of 94 and the fergus take over. I was 8 to be fair. But my first season ticket was for hampden, I remember the 95 Cup final, tommy burns going undefeated, I remember a pie falling out my hands and down the stairwell at hampden, I remember the Newcastle friendly as we opened celtic park back up, I remember no east or West stands, I remember the away support being right next to us, where the green brigade would eventually reside and now our whole corner is a celtic park focus of greatness.
I don't remember many individual games of the first couple seasons. I do remember how janenson Would change a game after 10minuts when he knew we needed a new game plan. I do remember that kid crying and I do remember Larsson most important goal of the 20th century.

So yeah, that's where I was, physically and seemingly emotionally and in my development of being a celtic fan.
From 94/95,to 98 was my apprenticeship to being a fully clued up celtic fan.

I was 14 and I was in a pub over here drinking coke listening to it on the radio, great memories.

I also remember the following day I found something on the computer at home which was little recordings of the support singing all the different songs after the final whistle.
(Which I listened to for years after)

Remember the week before if we won we would have won the league?
My guess was hearts away and they scored late to stop the party for another week?
My memory of that is looking around the pub my brothers used to drink in to see was the game on tv and were they in it drinking , but the pub was empty and the bar man got up the scores on tele text or something for me. I seen it was a draw and I walked home raging!

Was it not Dunfermline stopped us winning it the week before ? I've said on here before but our supporters bus took a bus up to Kendal as they could get Scottish telly and loads of clubs from England did the same. The Lake District was Green and White!

Yeah it was Dunfermline the week before.

Sid had us 1-0 up and some Quasimodo lookin * equalised late on with a lucky looping header.

East End Park had terracing back then I think, imagine the amount of Celtic fans musta been crammed in there.

Was in my grans listening on the radio. A bit too young at the time to fully grasp the importance of it but my dad was bouncing off the walls. Only time in my life I can remember my gran ever being remotely interested in what the score was, she was darting in and out of rooms and checking the score every 5 minutes.
