I’d give wgs a large chunk of credit for this, because look at the amount of players in that side who had limited ability but who were effective players for us… that’s not a coincidence for me anyway.

And quite a lot of that development was down to simple hard work and fitness. wgs was big on old school stamina work, as this is the main reason that Leeds united team won the league under Howard Wilkinson. I read his book, there was nothing sophisticated about the methods. And nothing exceptional about that team.

I think that’s why we were strong in Europe under wgs too… we could outwork teams who had more talent. Now, we’re trying to rely on technical ability, but getting easily outclassed in that department.

The fact he gets ahead of Kyogo for the national team is bizarre and Kyogo is far superior. I’m fine having him around for squad depth but he shouldn’t be our best option for left wing imo.
