    Having recently finsihed my revolution mixtape and coming across some Irish peaches like "go on home british soldiers" along with the usual Fields of Athenry as well as Bob Marley etc, it is a bit worrying and disturbing to me that there is a lack of Welsh rebel music. Plenty of Welsh music on themes like love considering its considered a mythic romantic language but as for outright rebellion against the Crown etc...nothing.

    apart from the song considered the 2nd national anthem of Wales and a song every nationalist knows and which inspires unbelievable pride and chest thumbing. its the Braveheart for the Welsh speakers and to be honest is so good we never need another song as it speaks for us.

    Any way, its Yma O Hyd. as there are no welsh speakers here I wouldnt expect you to understand it but it probably does well to listen to it just to hear the passion in the chorus, and imagine loads of us * up mid wales rugby lads on tables singing this on rugby day's when we've beaten the * over the border! also the sentiments are easily transferable to any Irish or Scottish rebels here.

    YMA O HYD means "still here". essentially a big "* you" to the English Saxons and Normans

    The last time I was in Wales I visited Harlech castle and found out a bit of the history. Owain Glyndwr who was like the Welsh William Wallace took the castle from the English.

    Love the song mate. Just downloaded one of their albums.

    Not that familiar with Welsh music to be honest besides Duffy and couple celtic bands (Boys from the Hill and Ffynnon).

    Aye, even myself who is not completely fluent needs to look at the translations, but knowing the meaning tends to make the song even if being unable to say the words. Inspiration is inspiration regardless of the language, as in this Yma O Hyd song you can just tell how Dafydd sceams the chorus the meaning behind the words.

    i mean even the phrase "Yma O Hyd/Still Here" can be used for any oppressed persons as a phrase, a motto even. they cant crush us!
