Our support is getting a hammering in the media just now regarding our songbook and though we all know this is to even things up with the huns and push the bill through, I really think we need to come up with ways to rise above them and there pish, I like the suggestion on another thread with replacing the oh ah up the ra add ons to erin go brath.

But I would love it if at a game in the near future we could organise a mass singing of walk with me perhaps at dundee united away maybe even with candles etc the full works, and see how bill leckie and the rest of the laptop loyal spin that, we need to put our heads together and figure out the best possible girfuy to them and the police and show that they can try drag us down to their lvel but we will always rise above them.

Walk with me, oh my Lord,
Through the darkest night and brightest day
Be at my side, oh Lord,
Hold my hand and guide me on my way.

    Sometimes the road seems long,
    My energy is spent.
Then, Lord, I think of you
    And I am given strength

Walk with me, oh my Lord,
Through the darkest night and brightest day
Be at my side, oh Lord,
Hold my hand and guide me on my way.

    Stones often bar my path,
And there are times I fall,
    But you are always there
To help me when I call.

Walk with me, oh my Lord,
Through the darkest night and brightest day
Be at my side, oh Lord,
Hold my hand and guide me on my way.

Just as you calmed the wind
    And walked upon the sea
    Conquer, my living Lord
    The storms that threaten me.

Walk with me, oh my Lord,
Through the darkest night and brightest day
Be at my side, oh Lord,
Hold my hand and guide me on my way.

Help me to pierce the mists
That cloud my heart and mind,
So that I shall not fear
    The steepest mountain-side.

As once you healed the lame
And gave sight to the blind
    Help me when I'm downcast
To hold my head up high.

Walk with me, oh my Lord
Through the darkest night and brightest day
Be at my side, oh Lord
Hold my hand and guide me on my way.

Or if anyone can think of parts of the hymn to change to give it a more Celtic feel please contribute.

We already sing you'll never walk alone so well the hair stands up on the back of my neck at the big games and I think we could pul this off as well.

    HAIL HAIL

    * no!!! Turn the fOOtball into Songs of Praise! lol

I think Scotland is sick of the OF and that is a reason for the bill. The songs aren't offensive but they are the other side of the two sides battling and Scotland is sick of it.

    Just a theory.

    Lord!!! Singing about my Lord!

All those Athiests will be offended so that will never do, that song will be banned and anyone singing it locked up for at least 10 years

What would our Muslim fans sing? The idea of solidarity is good but singing a hymn when we are a club open to all, or so we are told, would alienate some sections.

this celtic fans has no allegiance to any religion or faith and wouldnt want to hear that kind of thing sung at the football. the assumption in the hymn that there is a Lord and that he fancies going for a stroll with you is misguided. If there is a Lord who is looking down on us he's quite a sicko for all the nastiness he lets happen in our world.....from kids going hungry to kids being murdered in the street to nations being struck by tsunami's or earthquakes. illness and misfortune everywhere. Doesnt sound like the work of a super being with a masterplan.....sounds like a pre menstrual teenager playing a sick edition of the sims.
i apologise to those with faith or beliefs who may feel offended.....be comforted in the knowledge that i am every bit offended by your points of view on the subject.

Like it or not Celtic are one side of the OF war that causes a lot of trouble in Glasgow. Can't blame people tbh. Once you are all home and safe (* forbid otherwise) the polis, ambulances, fire service, asbo lot, pub owners and so on need to put up with the *.

so we have never sung hymns at any games?

I did say make it more Celtic orientated

Henrik larsson is the king of kings, defo not derived from a hymn???

also we sang walk with me at ipox last year although not in mass(excuse the pun) but it was sung.

My point being it would be good to give the police cameras some non football related totally inoffensive songs to shove in their pipe to smoke fora bit,

always look on the bright side of life
if your happy and you know it clap your hands
were only here for the party
oh your pizzas are * (to milan fans after the last 16 cl game)

to name a couple of the dozens of songs we have used to poke fun over the years

Sick of what then? Songs you admit aren't offensive. Police are just lifting people in the stands because they're "sick of it"?

Nonsense. The OP is spot on. It's to even things up because they can't be seen to be anti-Rangers despite their songs being offensive. It's the easy thing to do. Punish Rangers and then come down on Celtic simply because it's Celtic.

Couldn't give a * if Scotland is sick of us. My love and pride for my club and our roots will never diminish as a result.

Fed up with your constant anti-Celtic/anti-Irish/anti-Catholic/pro-Rangers "theories" in these type of threads.

Throughout the MON years we were always singing this on the bus I went on, in the pubs and at the game.
