Anyone think that it would be possible for Celtic fans to have links with pauli but be Sound with hamburg, i realise they chanted for Rangers and how they like them but why can they have their own little pally friendship without it being offensive and leading to trouble- unless thats the type of club they are.

What a mean is that hamburg should have no beef with Celtic and vice versa, if this is the case their should be no bother. But knowing the influence from Rankers...

From what i hear in the papers the hamburg fans bad behaviour was influenced by the rankers fans .

So unless they go to germany there should be no problems :50:

    Like that one Ronan

I know they mixed in the 70's and albertz strengthened their links but if they choose to be associated with that *, why do they have to be anti-Celtic as we seen on Thursday.

Just like Celtic can be sound with Pauli without being offensive to Hamburg

I heard chants of Rangers from them but no Pauli from the Celtic. Quite low to be honest.

I mean if they wanna knock around with that *, they can, but Dont drag celtic into it when it is trouble - banter fair enough

im sure supernick that no celtic fans will cause trouble (as usual) i do have fears for these "ambushes" that are rumoured they wouldnt surprise me at all and if they do happen im sure the press up here will be all over it like a rash

I hope Celtic get on ok over there i really do,

What i hope is that there is no beef between Celtic and Hamburg, as little influence from rankers as possible

I think Celtic should try not to get dragged into it, But they may need St. Pauli if it gets ugly

It is quite frustrating that we didn't even get a draw or something, because the effort was there but the quality of recent years is not -

nevertheless look at them all here

    YouTube - Celtic-HSV 0:1

I just think it should be Either HSV/Rangers with no beef towards Celtic from HSV

and no * to Hsv from Celtic even tho - Pauli, celtic

lads, didn´t we have a thread on this already?

other than that i think, that this is just the usual build up to the game. well of course there´s this connection between them, but the way i see it it´s only on a "small" scale and more or less the few that encourage the bonds between them, came over. i think the majority of the home suppoert over there doesn´t really give a toss about it. and if huns gonna come and mingle the might try and have a go, but as far as i know the copers and security staff over here i think they´ll have none of that...i could only see this happening at the parties the night before or after the game or the odd clash of a few around the backstreets of the reeperbahn the night after the game...but you never really know.

    hi,

i'm a hsv-supporter and - reading this thread but also some others at this forum - i got the impression that many of you guys are completely overestimating the link between the hsv and the rangers, and so the potential "danger" to come to hamburg. please allow me to straighten a few things out.

first of all: there is only ONE particular hsv-fanclub with some links to your local "enemies", the rangers. numerical: these are about 100 people - 100 (!) of about 65 000 (!) official club members, who don't give a sh*t about rangers at all. so don't worry about that. the overwhelming majority of the hsv folks is absolutely neutral concerning rangers... celtic... religion or politcs etc. - they are just interested to see a good game on the pitch, to drink a beer and to talk shop about football. if you share the interest you will face no problems in hamburg and have a good time, doesn't matter if you meet a hsv-fan or a supposed "friend" of fc st. pauli.

on the other hand: if you want to avoid any trouble as a celtic in our town it's pobably not the best idea to search protection by any st. pauli hooligans. i'm not saying that all the st. pauli folks are hooligans, 90% of them are not, but some indeed are, due to their extreme left wing political attitude and their disposition to violence, and THEY WILL NOT HELP YOU OUT OF TROUBLE, THEY WILL BRING YOU IN TROUBLE!

don't get me wrong: if you like the fc st. pauli and want to make party with them, do it! but be aware that there is a bunch idiots amongst them, who might see your guesting as a chance to prove how f*cking fearless and great they are.

    Keep into account:

    1) 2003, after the relegation from the bundesliga (I) st. pauli felt straight to the regionalliga (III), they were almost bankrupt, many of the major german clubs tried to help them out, benefit games were agreed, with bayern f.e., also with the hsv, in order to raise some money for them. what happened a couple of days before the game against the hsv? some pauli thugs attacked a public meeting of the hsv supporters club - the game was canceled afterwards.

    2) one year later they've played at our stadium in the regionalliga (III) against our U-23 side. what happened? they've lost the game and some of the idiots on the pauli tiers have tried to set our stadium on fire. ridiculous, but a bunch of seats in the region were destroyed after the game, we have never experienced such stupid things before nor after. after this game we have refused all possible derbys at our stadium.

    3) Look at this:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-nlCCDuNabI

we have not seen that kind of disgrace for ages at the bundesliga I/II, but if we see, st. pauli is involved: extreme left wing political sh*t against extreme right wing political sh*t.

therefore: be carefull with your "friends".

best wishes and congrats to the pole position in the spl :50::bbpd:

I can confirm the words above, there is no reason to bei concerned. The sympathy for your local rival is much smaller as you may think after seeing so many Rangers-Fans in the away sector last thursday.

Keep in mind that this is Germany! So the sympathy for british nationalists is not really big. I fact there are lots of HSV fans who prefer Ireland and Celtic ;)

But of course there is the risk that some right wing idiots and some anarchists from St. Pauli want to abuse this match to provocate some trouble with the police. Like there are always troubles in Hamburg when some eastern german teams with * supporters plays at St. Pauli.

But thats not an issue for Celtic fans. It is easy to stay away from this "political" trouble.

As a German Celtic supporter, I can confirm this. The friend I'm taking with me to the game is actually a catholic HSV supporter and we're both looking forward to it. Too bad we'll be sitting across the away section, I would have loved to meet some of the fans who've come all the way to support the bhoys. :celt_2:

I wouldn't be worried about any trouble at all but the recent behaviour of the hamburg supporters in connection with the rangers has indeed been more than shameful.

hmmm, waving st. pauli flags and scarves by the celtic green brigades is ok, appropriate and funny, but some rangers relics in the hsv-sector are disgusting and "shamefull"?

c'mon, what do you expect? there were some (needles) provocations on both sides, but both sides should be able to deal with it: if you can't stand any banter (as painfull as it might be) don't try to banter your opponent the same way. :86:

after all it's obvious and we have to face the fact that the more or less given alliance between parts of celtic and st. pauli supporters on the one side and part of the hsv and rangers fans on the other is not the best starting point for a smooth and friendly encounter, but i'm absolutely sure that there will no problems between hsv and celtic supporters - at least if the celtic camp-followers will be clever enough to stay out of some potential incidents between some extreme and narrow-minded hsv and st. pauli "fans", who really hate each other.

the golden rule is quite simple: enjoy your time in hamburg, have a good party with your st. pauli friends if you like them - just take care to stay out if your friends should suddenly mutate into hooligans, what might happen :85:
