I've been torrenting for a while now & it's killed 2 pc's - probably been worth it though, cos I saved a bomb in movies/cd's.

Any idea how to safely download torrents?

I've never done any of the private listing/group stuff & don't know how to go about it....is this way safer?

Any wee tips would be good.

I got the 1st series of Psychoville & some Primal Scream albums from BTJunkie & about 3 or 4 days later my pc was *....must've been this, cos I didn't download anything else or go to any dodgy webpages etc...

Anyway, got a new laptop & kinda protective of it. :97: Cost £280!!

use kickass torrents mate and when you see a file you want, check all the comments from others, this will let you know if the files safe, also download glary utilties and malwarebytes and run them everytime you download some stuff, they are both quick excellent programs and will keep your pc clean

Ive been doing it through the private torrents sites for about 5years

the problem is you need to upload what ever you download

So if you download 4gb you are expected to upload 4gb to keep your ratio 1.1

There is some good private sites that give you points for how long you seed or ones with free ratio(aslong as you keep the torrent running for 48hrs after download you are ok)

If you need help getting started i might be able to help you

    Certainly interested in this mate.

    What are the benefits?

    Are they more virus safe?

Do you get as much stuff on them as on the normal sites?

I've never tried one & haven't researched it in any way.

I have used utorrent for years now and never had any problems with it.

I use isohunt to source downloads yet. Both pretty straightforward.

Been using torrents for years and never had a virus yet.

Always read the comments first and make sure you scan any file before opening them up, you shouldnt really go wrong if you do that :50:

Been torrenting for awhile and the only time I ever have any problems is when i try and download a game, I don't think you can get viruses off of mp3 and avi files.

Touch wood, but I've been using Pirate Bay and Demonoid for ages now and never had any problems. Uknova is a totally legal and totally safe site for downloading UK broadcasts old and new. I've had many TV shows from UK nova which I thought I'd never see again.

How do you scan a file?

I've got the free anti-virus stuff like Avira, AdAware etc...?

Can you make these free programmes scan something on the net, before you download it?

    Cheers.

    I download a lot of games,movies and series's.

I use to Piratebay and BTjunkie.I always read the comments and stick to torrents at the top that are downloaded by thousands of people to make sure it's safer ( and quicker)

I don't scan or any other ways of staying safe as I'm a careless bad-*.

I've used torrents and all of its predecessor's for well over 10 years and have never had any problems.

The most important thing is making sure you have an up to date anti-virus and use common sense. Stick to consistent uploaders and ignore anything that looks dodgy.

I use Rapidshare and warez sites, much quicker and virus free, can get albums within 5 minutes and movies within about 20. Costs me a fiver a month.

First time I've used a torrent site, Dowloaded the latest episode of The Walking Dead and it worked no problem. But then I downloaded Alex Ferguson's new book but when I opened it, it said "Can not open this type of file". I looked at some of the comments and some people are asking if it can be converted to a pdf. A dont know what this is is why my download doesnt work because I need it converted to a pdf, how do I do that?

    Help:56:
