In the grand scheme of things this doesn’t feel like a big issue, but I think it deserves a thread as it’s been a problem for a while now, particularly in Europe, aside from a brief period under Ange when the directive was to get the ball back in play as quickly as possible.

We take an absolute age to take them, and when we do players make zero effort to get into space.

There were a few occasions tonight where Tierney and Ralston must have had the ball for 30 seconds as our players were man marked. It looked like nobody wanted the ball and was actually kind of embarrassing to watch.

Yet it seems like the opposition have no problem finding space against us. What’s going on?

It's simple really. Work-rate. Opponents chase and harry our players when we have a shy making it difficult for the thrower to find a safe option. We simply do not match that when the opposition have the throw which is why you will often see 6 Celtic players stood marking fresh air whilst one opposition player walks into space to receive the ball. It's all part of a massive flaw of ours, that has been a problem for many years, where we simply do not match opponents making runs off the ball.

Genuinely cringe watching us struggle to throw the ball into play a few yards into the opposition half. How the * are we so static?

    Simple - players busy hiding.

Just on the KT throw in, were players actually hiding or has too much been read into this ?

There was one point last night I thought referee was gonna switch the throw to their. I think it was Ralston who was just not throwing it

    Players hiding.

I remember when we beat the Huns 3-0 under Ange our throw ins were actually being analysed and praised at HT by sky. Mental change.

    I think they were hiding.

Tierney himself seemed to be at times as well as McGregor. Everything that went wrong last night, did. Was completely toxic.

Not just the throw ins that this is a problem. There is no movement for the man on the ball everyone rigidly staying in formation, until they have no choice to pass back to the centre halves who're the only ones in space.

Horseshoe football made a strong comeback last night because of it, same as in the cup final.

Should just throw the ball long backwards to whoever is there most of the time, we do probably take about 20-30 seconds on average to take a throw in.

Under Ange when set pieces were took rapid people were always on the move and ready but now nocunts doing anything.

Drives me nuts this. Juranovic and AJ were really good taking throw ins. Some power in their arms which probably helped but yeh overall it is clearly something we do not excel at

Can someone witihin the club not just put a * compilation of our throw ins under Ange together and hand it to Rodgers? It's effing infuriating to watch. :56:

I remember before Ange getting really annoyed at Taylors throws, due to this.

It wasnt just on GT, there was no movement.

If only it was only throw ins. The teams movement in general is 2nd rate.

Nobody bothers moving because the whole time knows the ball is just going to be passed out wide.

The amount of time we pass to a wide player in no space with a man on top of him and offer no other options is horrendous

Movement off the ball is something I always look out for. Noticed it early on with Ange that it was something he'd clearly been drumming into the players and it was the best I'd seen at us in a long time.

Not just at throw ins either, but just in general I think if players are trying to find space it's the sign of us being in the groove and feeling confident. At the minute it's not happening and lo and behold we look like we're lacking belief. We desperately need some vibrancy.

Quite a few of the big teams now have a throw in coach now, something should be looking into. It’s really annoying we went from Ange level of tempo getting the ball back in play as quick as possible and exploiting teams losing concentration for a second to now back to the slow * throw ins allowing teams to get in shape.

KT for a world class full back is awful at them, so hesitant.

Throw-ins, corners, free kicks. We are so * at all 3 for the last few seasons. All great opportunities to improve our chances of we actually look to address them. No idea why this doesn't get addressed.

You think ours are bad. Wait to you see the Huns.

Martin sets up with players sticking to their position ie striker has to stay central rather than come over to side of the throw so thrower only has 1 or 2 options. Maurice Ross was absolutely doing his nut about it on commentary the other night. Brugge constantly won possession by swarming around the 2 nearest players. Hopefully we have done our home work on it because it's definitely a weakness we can exploit
