Aye makes me think in like 20 years from now will we still have specialists or will nearly every elite fighter be allrounders who grew up learning MMA as a whole from young instead of being a wrestler who transitioned into MMA etc.

Think MMA, well UFC really will be more likely to change their rules if one style becomes to dominant as well.

That Depeche Mode when we score!!
His next 2 Fights will be very interesting whoever he faces to see how he pushes on. Anything can happen as you know in Boxing so yes it could well force me to put him my Top 10.
For the record he is just, just outside my Top 10,and I would not argue if anybody putting him in their Top 10.
I really hope he fights the best of the rest in his era.

For me, the route to Fury breaking the top would be:

    Beat Joshua
    Beat Usyk
Beat a couple other top 10 guys (his resume so far is lacking in even ‘the best of the rest’ names)

He would have a case for top 10 if he did that, imo.

Ali might not win the Tournament, but he will always be ‘The Greatest’.

He transcended the sport. He transcended ALL sport. So much so that his name has almost become mythical.

He wasn’t perfect; he could be quite cruel (his treatment of the great Joe Frazier was disgraceful at times), and he could be horribly racist (understandable perhaps as I can’t say I will ever know how tough it must have been being a black man in America at that time).

But warts and all, there’s no denying that Ali in full tilt boogie mode was like watching a piece of performance art. He could make a largely brutal and ugly sport look quite beautiful at times. Sure, there were plenty others who could do that (Ray Robinson, Willie Pep, Ray Leonard, Roy Jones… etc), but none of them were as pretty, as intelligent, as poetic, as funny, as captivating…

Basically, none of them were ‘Ali’.

    Genuine legend.

Always loved this clip about him, around 50 seconds in:

Touches on an aspect of Ali in the ring that is often overlooked thanks to his status, looks, charisma, the whole artistry around him etc - he was a bad, bad * basically :giggle1: he could mix it up and tough it out with any man, and often had to.

In a sport where will to win is one of the most important characteristics and found in abundance even at the lowest levels, he stood out for how strong his was. Proper indomitable spirit.

Yeah, I watched every single bit of it. What abusive * did he aim at Wilder in the build up to this fight?

Are you a hyper sensitive Tyson Fury fan boy or something? Fury's always running his mouth off, which is all part of the game so im not criticising him for it. Im not going back looking at everything he said if you are expecting quotes from me.

Nah, not at all mate, I know he’s said some downright nasty things before. The worst he called Wilder in the build up this fight was a shithouse * dosser - literally.

Wilder shouted something about his mum at the weigh in and he reciprocated with the same insult back, that was the extent of it.

Beautiful show of respect by Mike. Deep down he will believe he was better than Ali I suspect.

Doesn’t matter what he’s talking about, this beast shouldn’t be given any air time.

Hate how he’s just back in the limelight as though people have just forgotten he’s a convicted rapist.

I always figured it was prewritten a bit like wrestling. The wrestlers have their gimmicks and Fury's is that he is a mad *.

The pre match jibes at each other, yeah.
Well the George Foreman title run in the 90s, I'm convinced that was all a predetermined.

Boxers know roughly in advance whet the others will say. They do it to sell ppv buys. There will be exceptions like Ali being a * to Frazier

    Just watched the fight again.

Looks like Wilder broke his metacarpal with the big shot that put Fury in trouble in the 4th. And no feckin wonder - it was a BOMB! The ripple it sent through Fury’s body was ridiculous.

The bell to end that round must have been the most heartbreaking sound Wilder had ever heard - he hit his man with his hardest shot… and he survived.

Fury has some noggin on him!
