Lovely fight last night! Just watched it again and even with hungover eyes and a pounding head it was a lovely fight!!

Nice win from Mr Power too!!! Best bet you can get in boxing is two bets 1) from round 5-7 & 2)8-10 (pays 8-1 and 13/2)..............amazing how often it pulls for me in big fights :50: CASH MONEY!

Wouldnt disagree with your scores mate, but one fact your missing is Froch ALWAYS comes on strong after round 8.....against warriors like Bute, Kessler, Taylor thats when he won the fghts......not a chance Groves would have taken the later rounds, Groves always does his best work in the early rounds (how he beat DeGale).
As you say though, all about opinions :50:

PS. Just watching it again and Amir Khan has taken to many hits to the head!! Slavering pish talking fud!

People will say Calzaghe would have beaten Froch, and I agree he would have. Unfortunately you don't get many points for would've/could've,should've.....when you didn't.

    Froch now has:

    Kessler
    Groves x2
    Johnson
    Abraham
    Pascal
    Bute

And his career isn't over. I would discount Dirrell because I believe he won.

    Calzaghe has:

    Eubank
    Lacey
    Jones
    Kessler

In this case I wouldn't count Hopkins because I believe he won. Considering his ability Calzaghe has the record of a man that was happy to go through 95% of his career without really testing himself.

I think Khan had a more accurate description of events than any of the commentary team. Jim Watt and co. were really bizarre, Malignaggi is usually insightful but wasn't any better last night.

Watt had Froch 5-1 up after 6 rounds I think, then bizarrely turned on Froch after that and started bigging up Groves as if he was following a script to try and make the fight something it wasn't.

I thought Groves was comfortable during the early rounds, with neither fighter really imposing themselves, but Groves stealing many of the rounds. Around the middle of the fight we saw Froch begin to back him up against the ropes and that's when everything unravelled.

I visit a boxing forum regularly and the consensus after last night is that the commentary was terrible and Brits can't score a fight properly.

Can't believe Leigh Griffiths got knocked out in the 8th round last night. Hope he's fit again for pre season. At least his hair transplants looking good.

Unfortunately for Froch my point still stands correct. When his career is over, and boxing fans looks back at both these superb fighters. 96% of then will tell you Froch would be beat up by Calzaghe and that must eat Froch up inside. The 4% who would agree with Froch would be Froch fans.

According to Frank Warren, he offered Froch the chance to fight Calzaghe twice but twice he refused. Says it all.

If your going to drop Hopkins from Calzaghes resume you should maybe drop Groves 1 from Froch considering how controversial that was. But let's be honest, do you really think Groves would trouble Calzaghe much? A don't. And Sakio Bika was an excellent win for Calzaghe at the time.

Agree on Dirrel as well:50: Calzaghe fought and beat a prime Kessler. Froch lost the first fight to Kessler and then beat an old faded Kessler 3 years later. Calzaghe fought a well shot Roy Jones.

Both have great resumes IMO. Even if don't agree Calzaghe beat Hopkins,Hopkins was still class then, although by his best. He would destroy Froch in the condition he was in when fought Joe.

  7. Calzaghe was a much better boxer than Froch I think. Calzaghe was a good technical boxer and a classy operator, Froch is a decent boxer but I wouldnt say that great. Calzaghe would have mopped the floor with Groves.

Froch called it right, Groves is NOT a 12 round fighter. His concentration cost him both matches, groves is the better technical fighter but Froch is sturdier and stronger and obviously can last the length.

Watched the fight again, on silent this time. And score the rounds before the knockout..

    Round 1 - Froch
    Round 2 - Groves
    Round 3 - Froch
    Round 4 - Froch
    Round 5 - Froch
    Round 6 - Froch
    Round 7 - Groves
    Round 8 - Groves

As good a knockout you'll ever see. Overall Froch was the boss. So focused compared to the previous fight.

You can't really give Calzaghe the Eubank fight, can you? Wasn't it at like 10 days notice?
