Anyway, it's one of only 2 games before the Maribor game. I'd play Forrest in both games as we'll need him for Maribor. Maybe try a 4-3-3 to see how it works.

Would mean dropping Commons though as he doesn't fit in. McGregor provides a goal threat from the middle and is more capable of playing centre-mid than Commons.

For me Alarm bells will start to ring if he doesnt play a holding midfielder again, even though it's only St Johnstone we need to revert to a formation with one for the Maribor games, they are too important to let teams waltz through us again like Legia did because we had no-one protecting the defence.

Soon as the Maribor games are out the way then he can experiement all he wants with the team and formation even in the CL but it's important to have the players in roles they are comfortable in for those games.

Why Mulgrew? Is Biton not available? He'll be more effective against Maribor, for example, and I'd look to keep him in the side.

Other than that, we don't really much quality in depth, so that team looks about right. Can't disagree.

got to be the 2 israelis and johannsen

mulgrew's got to be left out so we can get the team right for maribor

biton deserves some game time since browns out aswell and in the mid season game in turkey he looked very acomplished

kayal as we know is a good player and should be getting more game time aswell

we could go a solid 442 with johanssen playing left and mgreggor right with the 2 israelis in the middle and 2 from stokes pukki and griffiths

I cannot understand how any supporter could be sure that Mc Gregor would score more than Commons in a centre position .
Commons certainly proved last season , and I wouldn't advise shifting him for a rookie just yet .

Is derk injured?

 

Doubt it, he played against KR in the first qualifier when he got subbed on. Actually put in a few cracking crosses as well now I think of it, also showed a bit of pace to beat his man several times on the wing. Judging by the lack of quality in our wingers and fullbacks crosses recently, this could prove incredibly useful. Considering we paid 3M for him, I just don't understand why he doesn't play when fit, he's got to be worth a shot eventually.

 

Nah he's just busy fixing people's problems.
