We wish to provide supporters with an update regarding ticket allocation for our upcoming William Hill Premiership fixture against Celtic on Sunday, April 6th.

As supporters will recall, and as was announced earlier in the season, a working group has been in the process of evaluating our policies for Celtic and Rangers matches at McDiarmid Park.

During this time we have undertaken several measures to encourage higher attendance and make our fans feel safe and welcome. Despite these efforts, attendance at Celtic and Rangers games has not increased.

The April 6th Celtic match has the potential for unique issues. There is increased interest in this game and there is legitimate concern that Celtic supporters could obtain tickets in home fan areas, creating additional safety issues. We believe it is thus prudent to consolidate our support in the Geoff Brown Stand.

We always strive to create the best possible home advantage for our team but, in addition to the safety of our fans, we must also consider the financial realities that come with operating as a sustainable football club.

Substantial additional revenue will be earned from allowing Celtic fans to fill the East Stand, revenue that will benefit our player budget for next season.

As a result, and following lengthy discussions, we can confirm that away supporters will be allocated the East Stand, North Stand and Ormond Stand. As there are accessible seating areas in the East Stand, we will not be required to sell tickets to away fans in the Geoff Brown Stand.

Season ticket holders in the East Stand will be offered similar, and to the greatest extent possible, upgraded seats in the Geoff Brown Stand. Single game tickets for home supporters will be available for the Celtic fixture and are already on sale for the Aberdeen match on March 15th.

Always think it's daft when smaller teams give us a small allocation when they haven't sold out their own tickets, I get it can rub some fans the wrong way thinking their club is accomodating or bending over to us, but it's just leaving money on the table that so many teams are badly in need of.

Teams like St Johnstone, Kilmarnock and others regularly cut their noses off to spite their face by restricting how many tickets they sell to us and the scumbags. 3 to 4 games a season at the right price they could sell out their stadiums but they're too short sighted to do so

It truly is beyond insane this self defeating behaviour. Not helped either by the league refusing to have a minimum rule for away fans allocations. The epl has a 10% minimum allocation or at least 3,000 if the stadium holds more then 30,000. I think a similar 10% minimum allocation would be reasonable. Teams could choose to offer more but there should at least be a floor below which they cannot go.
Its not just financially crazy for clubs to be refusing to sell tickets its also not good for the game. The fuller a stadium is the better experience for everyone plus it presents a better looking product to sell from a TV deal standpoint although thats a whole other topic.

Another complete and utter joke club..

I know the likes of Dunfermline have a bigger history but in terms of population, they're fairly similar, no? St Johnstone have won a double, competed in Europe and been a top flight club for a long time now, yet their support is that dismal. I get us and them have buses from there but still, it's always been a tinpot club..

Likes of Falkirk for a start and these down, will be better for the league. Then County for someone like Dunfermline..

You see the difference in crowds with the likes of a sheep going well, United coming up and doing well. Hibs turning the corner and bringing 7 thousand..

Almost have the kinda top 6 as it is bar the diets who are just off it..

Having the likes of Falkirk and even Ayr United would be great, would add some much needed atmosphere. Wouldn't mind Raith Rovers either but I doubt they'll come up this season.

Would be mortified if Livingston came back up.

    Aye Ayr's another good shout..

Would add another derby. Imagine would get good crowds and no one of the usual diddy mobs..

Raith years ago maybe. Their support is well down now and last I seen their ground on the box, im sure they had a stand missing?

Don't think that rule applies anymore mate..

Could be wrong but it used to be so many seats. Thought they did away with that..

The amount of clubs that don’t let us in, in numbers are financially foolish. They are all skint and they have a revenue stream sitting there needing a green light and it would come pouring in.

It is * but I think it shows how important games against us and the huns are to these teams and they love having at least 3 home games with huge away attendances. I think at least half the teams in the league like it more than they admit.

Does that make much difference? Was there for a game about 5 years back and it was fine with a smallish crowd but looked to be needing a ton of work.
