Sounds like a good player, if this deal happens then Mcmanus is off.

And Spartak Moscow's Czech defender Radoslav Kovac could also be on his way to Celtic, which could pave the way for a £4m switch for Stephen McManus to Newcastle. (Daily Record)

Need to see what happens with this ,is it paper talk .

Just read a wee snip in the Evening Times that this move was being played down by Parkhead sources, and also that Celtic aren't looking at selling McManus. You dunno who to believe!

Doubt very much theres any chance of this deal going through.

Celtic and ws agreeing to sell them and McManus agreeing to move from a club he loves to a club in turmoil.
Mick is a very sensible lad and doubt he'd even be tempted.

So chances of getting kovac i think are nil

I can see us signing Kovac as cover and competition for the CB position but I cant see us selling McManus. He's our captain.

hmm, Kovac is a great DC, but I can't see Celtic offloading the Captain halfway through the season and I doubt McManus would 'relish' a move to epl comedy club. Plus thier skint and supposed to be shelling out £10 on a striker.

After signing Loovens for big bucks (yeah it is) & with O'Dea & Cuthbert in the ranks, I can't see the board sanctioning this move - unless of course the Newcastle Cash/swop is true, in that case it could be win-win.

Celtic tying up a 1st team ready LB & not losing the experiance of a good CB, plus maybe having some money left over to tempt Hannover into giving us Hutszi early?

Hi everyone I'm a first time poster so go easy:50:I heard on Clyde 1 this morning that this guy was a left back but some of the papers say he may be a replacement for McManus if he is sold, does anyone know his natural position?

He's a centre back, also midfielder.
As you can see, he's a decent tackler. :icon_mrgreen:

It would be a win win situation IMHO
Kovac is an excellent big powerful CB who would be immense
in our backline. If we get Jose Enrique in at LB then I think our defence
would be as solid as the Great Wall of China :icon_mrgreen:

I remember Kovac from when we played Spartak and thought he looked good, good defender and comfortable on the ball too, certainly he would be an improvement on McManus. I just can't see it happening though, the club has already said their will be no major deals in this window, add to that the fact GS seems to think the sun shines out of McManus's * so he will almost certainly not be sold to make way for Kovac.
