Ive been discussing this in another thread and thought it deserved one of its own...

I understand Skippy is the best striker we have at the moment but is everyone happy with him?
Tbh Im not, I think his form as seriously dipped from last season and he lacks alot from his game. Theres the obvious like being lazy and his constant moaning but for me theres more, as a striker i want to see him closing down defenders more, he needs to show more composure infront of goal, he needs numerous chances to get one goal, he never looks happy unless he's playing with Jan which is very rare.

Ill take alot of flack for this thread but i want too hear what people think.

He's a great player and very important for us , but he needs to shut his * mouth do his talking on the pitch not spit the dummy out , and stay on his * feet hes on deck 24/7

He enjoys playing with jan more we all no that but when he plays with sammy he just * moans and spits the dummy out instead he should be working on improving his game with sammy ,

Dwight Yorke and Andy Cole * hate each other off the pitch and i mean hate each other theres alot been made on it , but on the park they was world class together thats down to having a manager like Fergie and having there baws booted and being told what to do ,

I think what Skippy has lost in goals he has made up for in overall workrate. The guy has started to hold the ball up really well and link up the attack and midfield. We just dont have another decent striker.

Dunno if i'm giving you flack here but i think that he is one of the few players in the team that have earned their summer break, as long as the fat * doesn't puff up like a balloon again.

He is a hugely popular player among fans at the club/
For me he is talentless. If Celtic never had a history and star players we know it had,I would say he is average. Taking into account the club celtic and all its meaning, he is insignificant and I am sad certain fans even rate him. I mean he would not get into a top 6 Greek side.

Talking of Greek sides, Olympiakos picked up the highly rated Diogo last season from Portuguesa for around €9 mil. He is exceptional. Is it imaginable Celtic would acually ever pay that much for a striker? If so, test the market please, you can pick up something better than Skippy easily.

Workrate? I seen him 2 feet away from a HIbs player today who had the ball, on the guys blindside just outside the box and he made no effort to get the ball, he should have been in at him in a shot trying to get it.
Most games he does his share of running but alot of the time if a pass doesnt come to within 10 feet of him he wont make a move to get the ball.

He's a great player for the money and would have been great beside a Hartson or Sutton but he's not playing beside one of them. Not a player I have a problem with and I like his moaning style.

He also I think is a lot better than last season, better on the ball and fitter. Not scored as much but hasn't had a regular partner all season, started off Jan then Samaras, then Sheridan etc

I can't believe someone can possibly call Skippy lazy. He puts in an amazing shift and is always challening for balls. Seriously are you sure you meant to say that?

Upfront his record speaks for itself, can score against any sort of team. Even greater when you look at his inempt partners.

I think he's a cracking wee player, holds the ball up well, has a decent first touch, and weighs in with a fair amount of goals.

It hasn't helped him this season that he's had to carry those 2 lumps of wood on his back, and i think with a big strong MOBILE target man next season he will get back to his best :50:

Inconsistency is his big problem for me. He's proved himself to be fantastic for us in the past but you have to remember that he has been unlucky this season with injury and then JVOH being injured didn't help matters as it's obvious he plays best and most comfortably with him.

I think he is one of the least of our worries though. Looking at the team today and throughout this whole season in general it seems that they just don't know how to attack. They get up near the box and are far too hesitant to take a shot on goal. If you don't shoot then you won't score. Simple really.

Aye i'd say he's quite lazy alot of the time Paul.

Id agree with that, for his goals alone id be happy enough to see him here next season but once our main problems were sorted id rather see him replaced with someone that has a bit more to their game.

can have his occasional great game , ibrox in december, pittodrie a couple of games back, but can also be quite quiet in many. It also * me of when he moans at other players for shooting instead of passing to him. but i do think he is the best we have at the moment so we cant be too fussy! He's a big game player as well which can be quite handy. I also think that he can be quite lazy at times. Probably an average player along with most of our team sadly.

Its a hard one to be honest. Hes had it tougher this season but I do think his forms been up and down. When hes been good....hes been very good but when hes been bad....hes been very bad. Theres been times when he needs a rest, like when he travelled on internation duty and didnt get a game then came straight into the team. Another thing, he played with the 2 donkey strikers most of the season, which didnt help him either. its a hard one. I think he'd have won us the league if had a decent strike partner with him.

From me, I watch all the Greek games and every Celtic game I can get a link to. I am part Greek, part english/Irish, part Spanish. Used to think the Scottish league would * on the Greek one. Now I am not so sure as Scottish sides have really poor players compared to greece now.

Larissa are a very good side, but just managed to finish 5th, they create many chances per game in Europe and domestically unlike Celtic and Zurawski has scored some crackers there and is a total team player. Players like Facundo Parra, Tümer Metin, Walter Matías Iglesias and Stelios make a really good attacking side who are totally comfortable on the ball. I seriously believe, if celtic played Larissa in a two leg match, Celtic would struggle simpley because Celtic have no big weapons, Larissa play with pace and talent. In the real world Celtic should be able to disimantle Larissa totally, but players like Skippy and Aiden will not help. Simply, there are not enough flair players in the side.

What is Celtics' budget for summer transfers anyone?

Don't get me wrong - he is a moany wee * but we watch him play alongside strikers who are 6ft 3 etc and he is the one holding up the ball and linking play.

I think he has become a better player his season. He has started scoring great goals in big matches. It's not his fault that he is not playing with a decent partner.
