Sebastian Tounekti

CELTIC have launched a bid to sign Tunisia international winger Sebastian Tounekti.

The 23-year-old has impressed this season for Swedish top-flight club Hammarby.


Tounekti has scored three goals and set up five more in 22 games to help the Stockholm outfit go second in the Allsvenskan league.

Boss Brendan Rodgers is seeking reinforcements following the Hoops' calamitous Champions League exit on Tuesday.

And Celtic officials have reportedly offered Hammarby £1million for Norway-born Tounekti.

Rodgers' former club Leicester, newly down from the Premier League, are also said to be keen on the left winger.


Hammarby are understood to want closer to £1.8m for Tounekti, who only joined them in February from Norwegians Haugesund.

The £1m signing is under contract until 2029.

Tounekti won 12 youth-level caps for Norwaybefore switching allegiance to his father's Tunisian birthplace.

He has since made two senior appearances for the north African country


The Tromso-born ace began his career with hometown club Tromsdalen.

He went on to help Bodo/Glimt win the Norwegian league in 2020 and 2021.


And he is now believed to favour the chance of boosting his trophy collection by moving to Parkhead.

A Swedish national team bomb could explode before the transfer window closes.

Expressen can reveal that Celtic has made a bid for Sebastian Tounekti.

The bid is 33 million kronor – but Bajen wants at least double that.

Sebastian Tounekti has been a success in the Hammarby shirt. He was signed to the club before the season from Haugesund for 15 million and has scored two goals and five assists so far.

Now there are concrete offers on Hammarby's table – less than a week before the international transfer window closes, and there is a Swedish club involved.

According to Expressen's information, Celtic have made a bid for Tounekti - with the clubs currently in negotiations regarding the transfer fee. Nothing is clear or signed.

The bid is €3 million – equivalent to 33 million kronor, but Hammarby requires at least double that to consider a deal.

It simply remains to be seen whether a transfer will take place before the transfer window closes.

Scottish clubs can sign players until September 1. The transfer window in the Scottish Premier League closes at 8:00 PM on Monday, so it could be a busy day for the clubs.

Also what's the * obsession with Hammarby. This is the 3rd player from them we've been linked with this summer. Is our scout pumping some bird from there or do we actually think the 2nd best club is sweden is some hotbed of talent.
