I cant get any decent scotch pies anywhere. I used to love a wee sausage roll or pie out the butchers in Springfield road before a game. Any suggestions for a quality scotch pie? Not tuechter areas. I'm unwilling to travel

I'm very lucky in the scotch pie area as we have loads of top quality butchers here.

Christie's the bakers, Ferguson's in Airdrie and Penders in Coatbridge are top notch. Penders can be a bit gristley but what can you do when the main ingredients are all the left over bits of animal's.

Not a fan of the Bells scotch pie, too synthetic for my liking.

I would strongly recommend a scotch pie, placed on a Crispy McGhees roll on a bed of Lurpack (approx 3mm thick) smeared with a thick tomato Jus (Heinz).

They was actually supplied by bells, at least the better ones was.

If you can't find a butcher nearby, try source a bells pie that ain't supermarket guff, but the ones they will supply to the hospitality industry.
Tend to be better filled and may come frozen, but they are frozen from raw pastry and not the precooked * you buy in the supermarket.
    So the pastry cooks better.

Total tangent, but I tell you what, you guys in and around the west of Scotland need to appreciate these rolls so much more.

They just don't do a morning roll at all up here.
McGee's prepack stuff gets sold in Tesco, but it's always the light, soft ones that never taste right. Need the fresh crunch and chewy ones you can find in any corner shop.

The pre packed ones are * mate, the real McGhees rolls as you say you need to do the homework to find out what shops and drop off times.

Tesco's here do the real ones too, in a big cardboard box when you enter the stores.
I don't get them though, always worried the person before me rummaging in the rolls box had just been for a pish and never washed their hands.

I love a roll, but there is just far too many clatty * to take the gamble.

Surprisingly farmfoods do a pie. Tastier and more meaty than some out of supermarkets

Used to be able to buy Bell's Scotch Pies from local Morrisons. 3 for £1 or something. Bargain. Now they take them out the packaging, into a wee Morrisons paper bag and charge £1.60 for two of them. The robbing *.

My local baker used to do a real qaulity pie. Actually top notch better than anywhere iv tried for the under £1 hot pie league. This covid closed them though. All his Van's, cafes etc not being open for ages. Then his staff all around 60 was to scared to work so he sold off his rounds, shops and retired. Gutted.

I am an expert in Scotch pies as they were my choice dinner time meal for the four years of my secondary schooling. Killie pies are well up there however, Lennon's the butcher on Shettleston Road are top notch and I regularly send some (along with tottie scones) down to my mate who lives in London.

I was buzzing the first time I went to Rugby Park so I could try one. Was good but nothing amazing tbh. Macaroni pie at Livi's ground is better imo.

Heard them as well, to be expected considering who sponsors that place.

    Unfortunately never had either.
