That was my initial thoughts on our new manager within the first couple of weeks. Even after that I was not a huge fan of his as a manager after he was one of my all time favourite players.

How opinions change throughout the course of a season and now I start to think "* do I actually know about football?"

I'm probably not the first to do it, but I'm on to hold my hands up and say that I think we've emploted one of the most exciting young managers in Britain if not Europe. I also know we have won nothing, but to start seeing a very exciting young team playing what can be considered 'The Celtic Way' fills me with a lot of hope and enthusiasm for the future.

What I'd like to see before the next OF game is Lawell and Celtic giving Lenny his extended contract and give us a lift before the papers print another 'Rangers getting bought' story.

I've decided never to make another judgement call on a manager or player again, (I'm now a huge Mulgrew fan), and simply support Celtic through thick and thin no matter what.

So come on Celtic get Lenny signed up for life!

very brave of you too admit it m8 :50: i always like to give players and managers time before i judge them , i do think lennon is doing a great job but he said himself hes 1 bad result away from a crisis, remember tommy burn he played 'the celtic way; and only won the scottish cup, theres still a long way for him to go before we start talking about new contracts

Brave man to admit it, i remember after we got beat from the knuckle draggers at Paradise there was a guy on this who slaughtered Lennon. The way i saw it was, Rome wasn't built in a day. The team just needed time to adapt i thought and time to play together. There was a lot of new faces in the side who camw from different leagues. I think there was far too many people too quick to judge Lennon. It dissapointed me that to be honest

Its just as premature to hail Lennon as great now than it was premature to write him off. Remember up to the New Year Derby 5 or 6 weeks back there was a massive groundswell of concern about Lennon. We have had a good 5 or 6 weeks and although I think we probably have indeed turned the corner big time and things look good, 5 or 6 weeks of convincing football is really nothing in football. No judgement should be made until summer. If this really is the corner turned (which I think it is) then he will win the title. However as far as I am concerned the contract still depends on the title.

I wouldn't sack Lennon though if we dont win the title mate. Otherwise you just start from scratch again with a new manager who has new ideas and players.

So what are you saying gunt?

If Lennon does not win the league, all the fickle gloryhunting fans jump back on the "sack Lennon he's no got experience bandwagon"

the teams come on leaps and bounds since he took over. Wages have been lowered, the squad is the strongest in a long time, the average age is the lowest it's been in many years with promising players who have good resale value, we are playing attractive football with hunger and desire, and strikers than can "actually score goals"

Now, I remember from previous threads, people were quick to get on the "sack Lennon" bandwagon and it will be interesting to see how long it takes them to get back on it when the team loses a few points or gets beat off rangers.

I think Neil is really starting to mould a fast moving and attractive footballing side around him, at last we can really say that watching Celtic team that is entertaining again after recent years under Mowbray and Strachan.

I agree that things can change quickly in football, but I think Lennon's footballing ethos is what the majority of us want to see from our team.

I didn't think much of John Reid's comments about us being prepared to sell our best players if the timing was right, he should keep his big mouth shut, personally I don't want to hear what John Reid thinks, it's what the team achieves is what really matters.

However let's not kid ourselves that we not a selling club, every player has his price nowadays, but we don't need to go broadcasting it like John Reid. Our board also to bear in mind that if the start selling the likes of Hooper, Kayal, Stokes, etc the CP attendances will drop further, we gone from 60,000 to 48,000 in two years, if these players go then so will more of our supporters.

Maybe and I agree I probably would keep him even if we narrowly lost. However, I still think we should wait to see just in case the good run comes to a halt and we badly falter. What I really want to know is whether the 6 weeks where we look like a convincing real team is the exception or the rule because before that, even when we were winning, I thought we were not convincing and looked fragile as *. Deep down I think this is the corner turned and this is the real deal but we will know for sure in a couple of more months.

    Easy Tiger !!!!!!!!!!!
Lenny has won fck all as of now.
Hypothetically speaking, we could get beat on Sunday (* Forbid), get pumped out of the Scottish Cup on the 12th (* Forbid again) & loose to the Huns in the League cup final (* forbid again & again) & end the season with HEE-HAW (Won't happen) & the Huns going on to win the Treble (Please *, No) !!!!!
And then what? Have a sweepstake to pick the winner, who will then have the chance to 'Frog March' Lenny out of CP & Glasgow personally !!!???!!!
So let's not get carried away here.
Let Lenny win something at the end of the season & then he can be handed a good, long contract.
Till then, let's not tempt fate !!!
Cause, 'Be very careful what you wish for, For it could come true & then make you think.........' !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:86:

I've never thought he should be sacked personally and I don't think the time is right for a new deal either whilst our sole focus is to win the league at this time.

At the start of the season the team was dis-jointed and his tactics were simply wrong. That side and the one which is on this current run are poles apart in just about every aspect. When we drew the couple of games in December and TalkCeltic was like armageddon proved more about the knee-* reaction of fans than it did about Lennon's ability as manager. I went to both games and we should have won both with a couple of decent performances but we lost stupid goals and ultimately dropped silly points but you would have had to have been a liar to say the team didn't look good at times.

I've no doubt there will be shouts for him to walk before the end of the season as well, a loss to the huns and this place will be in meltdown.

What I am saying Ryan is that I never in a million years thought that Lenny had it in him to get this type of YOUNG team together and get anywhere near this level of football.

IMHO he's already proved his worth this season and I think already a new contract should be forthcoming.

I know we've won nothing - but as one previous poster said, let's help bring the thunder back!

Although I've followed football and Celtic for over 30 years I'm simply saying * do I know and that I should never have criticised in the first place.

We havnt won anything yet, I said at the beginning Lennon was under a handicap with the Celtic BOARD he had.
They are are the problem if we win nothing not Lennon, currently thats my conclusion, they are NOT fitba men.
Lawwell, and Reid, are talking and openly admitting the problems in the media, for me they are a * disgrace they are the ones along with others on the inept BOARD that have cost this finacial negativity! :47:

I started a thread a while back trying to get his contract extended. It was during our shaky home draws run.
I felt a new contract would take off a little pressure, as we seemed to be living on our nerves a little during this period.
Lenny has turned this pressure into a positive thing and created a siege mentality which has brought out the best of the players. The team spirit looks excellent and the winning mentality is evident.

He deserves enormous credit as these players know what is expected of them when they pull on the hoops!

A rolling one year contract worked for MON and WGS so I think this should be put in place now.

Even if we don't win the league there's been enough improvement to warrant a new deal for Lenny.(We will win the league by the way):shamrock:

I think the gossip collum on the bbc said that they will discuss Lennon's contract situation IF he wins the title, which is a little extreme imo.
