Just been sitting watching a bit of LFC TV and seeing a bit of Robbie Fowler and Michael Owen in action.

Who do you think was the better player in their prime?

For me it's got to be Fowler. He didn't have Owen's pace but his natural finishing instincts were second to none. He was just a natural born goalscorer. His career did dip when he got into his late 20s but at his peak I'd have taken him over Owen any time. I think Owen was a bit over-rated in all honesty.

I was always glad that 'Fowler to Rangers' thing never came to anything. It would have been horrible seeing him in that manky blue atrocity.

I think Fowler is a natural finisher. Despite not always having the pace he has always had very good vision to ensure he gets to the right positions, were as Owen has proven over the last few years that now he has lost a extra yard of pace he finds it a little more difficult to find the right areas. But I wouldnt mind Celtic snapping him up on a season long loan in the summer

voted for Owen because at his peak he was one of the best in the world.

The thing is he peaked far to young and fizzled out far to young. Fowler still had something in his 30's

Not a very good reason to pick Owen. Some of the greatest Celtic players were brought up supporting Satan's XI.

I think Owen was always overrated. His pace allowed him to break onto the international scene at a very early age, and so naturally he got the full Saviour of Engerlund treatment. However, it turned out that pace was his main attribute, and (predictably) he never reached the heights that were forecast for him.

Fowler was more of a predator. Bit of a scally * by most accounts, but more interesting than Owen, and arguably a better striker. Though never one of my favourite players either, it has to be said.

The player I thought was top class from that Liverpool team was McManaman. Tremendous talent, great to watch.

owen is a good bench player for united ... still got the natural eye for goal but no doubt has lost a gd bita pace due to continious injuries over the years. But i agree on his day , fit and injury free he could be lethal.

Fowler ..some finisher but owen has always been a better player.

Both great players but if you view both at there peak fowler was just better. Owen was explosive but as a finisher fowler was far better. So clinical in front of goals and during the 90s was as good as anyone.

    As a person, Michael Owen.

But as a player I would have Robbie Fowler anyday. Thought he always had something about him and he was just such a goalscorer.

Owen, he wasnt at his peak for long sadly, but he would have been one of the top strikers ever if he didnt keep getting so many terrible injuries.
