How many starts and sub appearances or minutes rather than games?

There's your true gauge - Griff is the best in the modern era.

Amazing stat. As PaulM says, not all of those appearances were starts either, even at that he's ahead of some genuine legends there.

    Keep it up Griff

What? What counts as modern in your estimation?

Quote lifted directly from journalists and broadcasters all over the place. Post war I'd imagine?

He's the quickest to 50 since Nicholas.

'Griff is the best in the modern era' is a pretty bold statement, even by your standards :icon_mrgreen:

Good goalscorer but we've had far better forwards than him since I've been watching the team.

I wonder how long it would have taken for Keane to get to 50 if he stayed

In terms of minutes, aye. I love watching him at the moment. He's still not the best in the modern era though, Hammer :smiley-laughing002:

If modern era is the last 10 years, basically since Larsson left. Then yes, he definitely is.

I still don't beleive he is a better all round player than Hooper when he was here I strongly stand by that but to be equal on goals with appearances and Griffiths probably making a good few sub appearances from the bench I really can't disagree with but I still say hooper was better

    Cheers for the stats ILTC.

Jozo has a point about Robbie Keane, what would his ratio indicate towards 50?

I love Griffiths though, he's been amazing this season and scores some wonderful goals.

The difference these days is Europe. It's where we judge our managers and team when comparing to the past.
