Forster: 5. One good save but didn't command his box and had a couple of bad moments on croses/throws.

Matthews: 9: Brilliant., pace snuffed out so many counter attacks
Ambrose: 9. At times looked majestic, would have been MOM but for a couple of his "moments".
Lustig: 9. Excellent game, reads it well and decent in air. Pace helped keep their striker away fom the ball.
Mulgrew: 8. Some really nice crosses and one brilliant defensive header. Lacks Izzy's ability to get up and down but was the better choice last night.

Ledley: 8. Super Joe quiet but effective as usual.
Brown: 7. Our driving force. Would have given him 9 but his stamp could have seen us down to 10 men.

Sammy: 9. * for the first 15 minutes and faded a bit for the last 15. In between he had one of his nights where he was simply unplayable.
Forrest: 7. Terrible first half but even then never stopped trying. Good second half. The whole game he did a lot of unsung tracking back I thought.
Commons: 10. MOM. Our main creative force for a while now.

Stokes: 8. Did his best work in the channels and outside the box. Missed a sitter and didn't score but actually played really well.

Forster 5.5- Had very little to do in the way of shot stopping but he didn't command the area well enough when they hit the crossbar from a the long throw and the other set-piece which Matthews cleared.

Matthews 8- Same old from Matthews, solid in defence, gave us options in attack and made a vital clearance.

Ambrose 9- MOTM for me, his distribution was impeccable.

Lustig 7- Kept their big forward quiet, assured passer of the ball

Mulgrew 7- Got into great crossing positions and was solid at the back.

Brown 8- A true captains performance, dictated the pace and ran the show in the middle, could have got sent off though.

Ledley 7- Kept the game ticking over, quiet and affective

Forrest 7- Struggled first half, changed position in second half and was a constant danger, scored the winner playing through the pain barrier.

    Samaras 9- Just sensational

Stokes 7.5- Had two great chances, one superb save from their keeper and one hitting the crossbar, his mazy run to set up Forrest was sublime.

Commons 8- * cracker of a goal at a perfect time, always looking for the killer pass, tired in the second half though.

I didn't think Stokes played that well through the ninety to be honest. I'm still not convinced by him and wouldn't be confident going in to the CL with him leading the line but who knows he may prove me wrong.

Lustig and Ambrose probably my MOTM's and Forster thought he had a bit of a nightmare but found some confidence to collect that final free kick they had and kill the game.
