So after talking with a friend about my fear of hights, I wanted to know what the technical term was. I've always known I'm not actually scared of the physical heights but more the edge, the dizzyness and nausea etc. So naturally you think vertigo, but I think that's actually a physical medical condition, which I don't think I have...so it turns out it is probably illyngophobia.

    Interesting to know that now.
So what sort of phobias does everyone else have, using the same site they have a list of a few...

    Pretty interesting reading.

I have this after a traumatic hallucinogenic experience about 10 years in which I thought parasites were trying to crawl in my eyes and eat them and thought tape worms were trying to escape out my body.

    ome » Phobia List, Phobias
Parasitophobia is the fear of parasites, or the delusion of being infected with parasite

Parasitophobia is taken into account to be a specific phobia, which are typically fears of sure objects or situations. Parasitophobia is also related Helminthophobia (fear of being infested with worms) and Insectophobia (fear of insects).
It is usually accepted that phobias arise from a combination of external events (i.e. traumatic events) and inner predispositions (i.e. heredity or genetics). Many specific phobias might be traced again to a selected triggering event, often a traumatic expertise at an early age. Social phobias and agoraphobia have more complex causes that are not entirely known at this time. It is believed that heredity, genetics, and brain chemistry mix with life-experiences to play a serious role within the development of phobias.
As with any phobia, the signs vary by person relying on their level of fear. The symptoms typically include extreme anxiety, dread and anything associated with panic reminiscent of shortness of breath, speedy breathing, irregular heartbeat, sweating, extreme sweating, nausea, dry mouth, nausea, incapacity to articulate words or sentences, dry mouth and shaking.Medicine might be prescribed, however please observe that these medications can have side effects and/or withdrawal systems that may be severe. It can also be importation to notice that medicines do not cure phobias; at greatest they only briefly suppress the systems. However, there are therapies for phobias, which embody counseling, hypnotherapy, psychotherapy, and Neuro-Linguistic programming.

Busy shopping aisles. Walk out shop's that are too rammo or don't even enter..

Flying. No flew for year's because of it..

Pitch black. Leave toilet light on every night and although I like my own company, I don't like sleeping alone in any gaff myself..

I am yer man with rats. Hate the * things. The way they scurry makes my hair stand on end. I’d be a very strong swimmer when fit but was jumping into the sea of a pedlow in Portugal a few years back at least half a mile out. Just for that moment I took a panic to get back on the raft. My son telling me about basking sharks flashed through my head. They don’t attack but sometimes accidently have a wee nibble.

Cannot * stand clowns. Everything about them creeps me out. Also not a fan of drive through car washes and squeezing cotton wool. Other than that, I’m * fearless!

not so much off a phobia...….. but everytime I touch an egg, I've got to wash my hands. even if I make scrambled eggs I will crack an egg then wash my hands, crack the next one and wash my hands again.
even though I know it's stupid, I still can't stop doing it
f*cked me right up from realising my lifes ambition of working on a chicken farm.

Way too many fears to list, not sure if they are full blown phobias though.

    Fear of Heights
    Fear of Flying Insects
    Fear of Clowns
    Fear of Cats
    Fear of Birds
Fear of walking through tunnels or underpasses ( got a valid reason for that one)
