I'd sign him. We know what he can do, we could go and spend more money on an unknown and they turn out to be *. Rodgers will know what he can get out of him.

Ye you are right, I read that before.. Putting a value on him of 8.5mill which is fair to say he's no way worth at the moment, albeit I do recognize we are buying into the potential.. 4mill with a 30 % sell on for me would be fairer to all parties

Kelly looks good, I agree, don't think he's quite ready for CL but I wouldn't be against him coming on as a sub. It will be a big learning curve for him. He's 18 so not being CL ready isn't a knock. He's taking his chance and I think you'll see a lot more of him next season.

    There's no point to miss.

You think it's a no brainer. Others don't. Pretty simple stuff.

Daniel Kelly should be loaned out for at least 6 months. Obviously has potential but still not close to being a regular for us.

Yeah definitely not a knock, he's only at the start of his journey. These boys will only ever have a chance of progressing to a good level with minutes in Europe, which you hope he'll be getting over the next 2-3 seasons. Think Rodgers has got every intention of going down that route for sure.

Bernardo hasn't flopped by any means but not has he set the heather on fire. I would rather see Kelly stepped up to the first team squad and the Bernardo money spent on another goalscorer and left back.

He has set the heather on fire at points as well though. We should have more enough already, never mind a fee for O’Riley which is probably a foregone conclusion, to be able to sign him plus your wishlist and a keeper.

And the way we go about it, I doubt that’ll be O’Riley’s full fee of a spend either if the rumoured £25m odd is true.

Ignore the fee. We have plenty cash. Win the league and we double it. Sell matt and we'll probably end up with well over £100m just in an account. That's * insane.

So baring that in mind. Does he improve us as a sqaud? Yes.

During our yearly run of incredible injuries can he step and perform in the champions league etc? Yes.

Is he young and will improve? Yes.

Yet folk are saying no for £6m but aye at £4m? Who gives a * over £2m when we could have over 100m sitting. Improve the entire sqaud, not just the starting 11.

I don't think it's as simple as that, with all due respect.

We had over £70m in the bank and we spent less than £20m in the summer there and we brought in over £30m in player sales. You say that £2m is * all to us but when it comes to transfers in during a summer, it's not. It's probably over 10% of our budget. I think Bernardo could go onto have a very good career somewhere but I don't think that's set in stone. As others have said, he'll be lucky to start a game the rest of this season if we have Hatate, O'Riley, McGregor, Iwata all fit and available. Then you look at the price Bodo accepted from Charlotte for Albert Gronbaek. £7m... that's where I would rather be focussing my money on. I believe there is far better out there for £6m. It's not about the price, it's about what I've seen that price would get us and I don't think we should spend that sort of money on Bernardo, especially when we are so stingy with the cash in the bank. Half of that £6m price tag? Maybe, we can start talking but for me? No chance we should pay £6m.

Also, while I think he will improve, it's not like he's a 19 year old boy. He's 22 years old. For £6m, you could probably sign both Lennon Millar and David Watson, one is 17 and one is 18, with more far more potential than Bernardo and they would also improve the squad, in my opinion. I just think you can get better out there for the money and while I'm not for skimping and scraping, like we did in the summer, we also need to be wary when we do pay larger fees.

I think people are just desperate to see us spend a significant amount of money on one player, like we did with CCV and Jota, without looking at the actual player. No one can seriously suggest paying the same money we did for Jota for this boy?

I suggest £6m is a bargain. So plenty are suggesting that. The players you named do not improve us. They are even more of a project. We need starting 11 qaulity not just in the first 11 but the entire bench. He's that. Two 18 year olds is just more project pish we've been moaning about. Give me portugals under21 captain anyday of the week.

£6m is a bargain for a player who has flattered to deceive for 80% of his games?

What would be our 5th most expensive signing in our history and you think he warrants that? Come on, man. There are far better options out there for £6m.

Genuienly, what are you seeing in his game that makes him brilliant?

I think he has potential and I thought there was a period in December/January where he was starting to come onto a game, culminating in a couple of very good displays against the huns and St Mirren but he has been far from brilliant this season, as a whole.

    Are there though?

Yes, we've got O'Riley, Hatate etc cheaper but we all agree we got them at an unreal price.

We have failed to move with football inflation, still shopping in the under £4m market. We still think £6m is a lot of money. It's not. We spent £3.8m on Fortune in 2009, which is now just under £6m in today's money. Not saying he was worth it but I'm saying about us being conditioned by the club to not move with the times.

Having said that, have I been convinced in spending £6m on Bernardo? Unsure. I'll wait these last few games. He does have something about him though. We could easily spend £6m on absolute dross. He may be the safer option but I will not be happy with him being O'Riley's replacement. Bernardo and another yet to be named midfielder, and I'll be happy.

Young player being loaned out to a new country. Each player takes a different time to settle. Came on and done brilliant in the champions league when required. Maybe Rodgers fault for not playing him domestically for a while. Barely sets a foot wrong, starting to put the ball in the net something many of our great midfielders of the past couldn't do. Great during that period you mentioned, took a bit of time to get going again and that's fine for such a young player. Done great at the weekend again. Continues like this and yea he's fully worth it imo. Ofcourse you seem to think 22 is old :56:

Of course, there are. Scouting has to be the one thing we make major investment in, given we do have budgets and we do have restraints on what we can spend. I don't really care how much a player costs and I don't care where they come from. I just want to sign players that are going to play well. Some I have seen, like the two players I want us to sign in the midfield and some I haven't, like Hatate and O'Riley, who turn out great.

I hope people aren't of the belief that I want us to go bargain hunting. I've made it crystal clear for months now that I want us to sign Albert Gronbaek and Emil Breivik and they will cost between £12m and £16m for the both of them. I'm not even against signing Bernardo, just not at £6m. It's also a very large portion of a sell on to be giving away. £6m and 30%? Again, we agreed to it with the Jota transfer but Jota had just come off the back of an excellent year with us, winning a double. No one can say Bernardo has been excellent for us this year.

Regardless of whether or not we have moved on because I think we all know we haven't, the club still has a budget. Now, let's be reasonable and say the club will spend £30m in this window. Do you want to blow a fifth of our budget on a player who hasn't set the heather alight barring 3/4 games between December and January and makes us weaker as a team, when you take Hatate or O'Riley out? Yes, he has potential and he could get better. £6m is a lot of money to spend on a player for us, though. Especially right now. The price has to be negotiable for me. They can keep the 30% sell on but £6m is far too much.

This is where you said it. Crazy to think 22 is old in football.

I'm sorry but can you bolden in that quote where I said 22 is old? I'm not seeing where I said specifically that 22 is old.
