The problem is I'm a 19 y/o guy who passed his driving test a few months ago. I did not take to driving naturally, as my motor skills and co-ordination have never been the best. Evidence of this is the fact I took 5 times to pass my test. This was because I was really bad at reversing and kept failing on the reverse around corner and parallel park maneouvres. my instructor kept working on them with me and I passed eventually 5th time when I got a 3 point turn and 7 minors.
The problem is I can't bay park in supermarket or public car parks. Whenever I've tried even driving into a space I always end up halfway between the lines covering two bays and panic. This was a maneouvre I was never taught so how am I supposed to perfect it? I would never dream of reversing into a bay because it looks even more difficult. Ironically,I think I am a good driver, as I don't speed and the motorway is really easy-ive driven from Glasgow to Stirling a few times and to Edinburgh once.
What do I do to get my confidence up with parking? If there are any driving instructors, or drivers on here, I'd appreciate a reply.

No offence mate but if you cant drive a car between 2 white lines then you should not really be on the road.

    Congtrats on passing...:50:

If I was you I'd maybe head to the nearest supermarket car park at night and get some practice in the empty car park. You don't want to be at a busy car park with someone shouting at you for being in two spaces. Good luck...

    Let the people sing,
i was in the same position as this when i passed, i had never needed to bay park while learning as my test centre didn't do it, best idea is look up youtube videos, theres lots of lessons on there. Check them out, learn the turning points then head to an empty supermarket or carpark and practice for a while - won't take long.

just drive into the space instead of reversing in, its a lot easier. you can always take a few attempts to straighten up. if your nervous just dont park between cars and park at the back of the car park where its empty at the supermarket.

Bet you thought you were going to get sympathy on here. :56:

Try practising in an empty car park and tip your door mirrors down so you can see the bay lines in them.

I used to be quite bad with parking in bays, just go to the back of supermarkets were its quiet and make sure you use your mirrors a lot you'll get better eventually. To be honest everything my instructor told I've just completely disregarded it and now I don't think I do anything he taught me so you'll find your own way of doing it.
