So recently ive realised that PASS hologram cards arent being accepted by many pubs, clubs or bars around scotland and the UK, its never been a problem for me in Ayrshire, but having spent more time in the Glasgow, Paisley and Clydebank area recently, ive found that these Supposed Proof-of-age Cards are being knocked back

Having looked further into it, ive found that many people around the UK are having the same trouble with ID, as pubs are only accepting Drivers Licences or Passports.

this is what PASS is supposed to Provide:

    PASS

The new PASS system means that you should never have a problem proving your age again...
Have you ever been asked to prove your date of birth but not been able to? Or maybe you’ve shown a card but it’s not been accepted by the person who asked for it?
If so, then the new PASS Proof of Age Standards Scheme is the answer. The aim of PASS is to provide an easily recognisable tamper-proof logo which is an accepted voluntary proof of identity. PASS is supported by all of the major proof of age card schemes, and that includes Young Scot!
The new PASS hologrammed Young Scot National Entitlement Card (NEC) will:

    • let you access goods and services that you are entitled to use, easily and with no fuss (e.g games, DVDs).
    • allow sellers of age restricted goods and services (e.g. cigarettes, alcohol etc) to accept the proof of age card with confidence.
    • help retailers to remain within the law.

Yet Sellers take them DONT most of the time, I, being neither a driver or holder of a valid passport am in an awkward situation, as now it seems i need to shell atleat £50(cost of provisional license) JUST to be able to enjoy a nice wee drink at a pub, which should be completely within my rights to do, being 19.

its irritating me, needs sorted out!

I work in a supermarket and we're told to accept them. I also occasionally used my pals Young Scot card a few years ago when I was underage and it was accepted in most places, so I don't know why there's this sudden change of heart over it.

I personally think it's a bit * rejecting it, I can't think of any conceivable reason why places would decide to accept a driver's licence or a passport but not a PASS card?

My mate uses his Young Scot Card in Glasgow a lot and he's never been knocked back. Must be your luck.

I used a Young Scot card for years and it was usually accepted, in Glasgow and elsewhere. I've never had any problems using it in off-licences or supermarkets, most pubs and clubs are fine but some bouncers can be wanks so I use my passport now.

I used to hand over my student card at the same time and I think that helped convince them it was legit.

We don't accept them at my place, mainly due to the fact the licencee thinks they're too easy to fake. No idea if that's accurate though...

its easy to fake the card, but surely not the hologram?...which is the thing that authenticates it

One thing I did notice with them was , They were not like a drivers licence or passport photo where you had to have your glasses off and earings or pierceings out... You could have all these things in on the pass photo's and sometimes you'd look at the person ( they'd have all the same things on as in the photo) and think Are they just wearing them trying to look like the person in this photo.. then that's quite trivial and wasn't a problem for me really.

I don't know of any places that do accept them strictly drivers licence or passport for glasgow city centre anyway bud..

I don't know if they still are, but when we got our young scot cards they were issued from a computer in an office in the school. The woman who worked their was changing the date on the card for pupils to use as ID. Having worked in the bookies, I never accepted them, and I agree with most pubs and clubs not accepting them.
