I have read various posts with regard Paddy McCourt not being given the chance of a run in the first team. I just wanted to make a personal observation I think that Niall McGinn should be now given a chance in front of Paddy, I watched a lot of reserve football over the past couple of years and in my opinion i think Niall is a better player than Paddy he is skillful, has a good turn of pace and is a decent crosser of the ball. He has been capped for Northern Ireland indeed against Isreal in August he came on at half time and was named as man of the match by Nigel Worthington . Just a sugestion anyone have an opinion

I've not seen as much of McGinn as I have of McCourt but the fact that McGinn was in the Northern Ireland squad for the latest 2 qualifiers and has featured, while Paddy McCourt is playing Cork City in front of 3500 suggests he is a bit further advanced in the reckoning.

Why was McCourt not in the NI squad anyway??? Was he injured when the squad was picked or just overlooked?

Mind you - despite what i said, I have been impressed by what i have seen of Paddy McCourt when fit. Still not had the opportunity though to see it on a higher level. The step up from reserve football to first team is massive.

I've not really seen enough of either of them in the reserves to comment, but the fact that McGinn was included in the NI squad whereas McCourt wasn't is suggestive.

Both look like they can make the step up hope to see them feature in the first team this season. Watched both for Derry and the reserves and believe they are deff as good as Mizuno. Great to be able to introduce flair and creativity from the bench when required!

McGinn has time on his side. Only 21-22. Where as McCOurt is 24-25. From what ive seen paddy looks good in the reserves, lot of skill and a killer pass. McGinn, pretty similar but not seen as much. I personally dont think McCourt will get much time in the 1st team when McGeady + Maloney are fit. I would love to see paddy get a game but if he cant handle frienldys and reserves for 90 min what chance is there in the 1st team.

I would play McGinn before McCourt in the wing position. If McCourts going to get a game it has to be in place of a striker playing in behind a striker.

McGinn has the skill and pace to replace McGeady, McCourt would change the whole midfield if he was to go in. It would mean Maloney could be man-marked because they would have nothing to fear from McCourt as he doesn't have the pace to create a goalscoring chance in a matter of seconds(from out wide).

Come on mate. Do you honestly think that McCourt doesnt have the skill to split an SPL defence? He looked really good in pre season and has had good games in the friendlies during the season.

Maloney only does those things in the SPL. So if Paddy cant do that he shouldnt even be in the Celtic squad!!

    well done Nial Mcginn

great debut for him, looks a better player than mizuno, should be on the bench every week, and if maloney or mcgeady slack off at all he will be waiting, hope to see more of this lad as the season progresses. what were your thoughts on his performance?

The reason he isnt on the bench is because of the under 21 ruling he is 23. Hes quite unfortuante there . anyway mcginn done really well :50:

I also was quite impressed by what I saw from McGinn. Hopefully there will be more to follow.

I've said it a number of times already this season, I am really excited about the prospect for some dynamic wide play, from the likes of McGeady and Maloney, backed up by McCourt, Mizuno and now McGinn.

Jinky's ghost must be grinning from ear to ear, with the emergance of Mogga's style of play, the re-emergance of flair wingers once again.
