Doesn't say we WON'T sign anyone. More saying we won't be making any big signings. Probably looking at fringe players and youth.

So basically, don't be hoping for any action in the transfer market in the next few weeks.

Just read it. If true its another example of perhaps being too conservative and mind actually be the difference between qualifying or not.

I think they can afford to be a bit aggressive and buy a decent CB and Striker because they have a lot of talent in the squad which can be sold in January if they don't make Europe and the domestic revenue is worse than expected.

Not surprised TBH, like most on TC I believe we need a CD and big strong CF, but we have a massive pool as it is and we need to either get rid of some of the fringe players that are not gonna feature (for whatever reasons) now, or try to get the best out of what we have.

Even if we sell someone like Ki I would be very surprised if we bought before we get past the first stage qualifier.

people got understand we probably got 7/10 million black hole in budget with loss off rangers in spl, no old firm games, tv money be down, attendances will be down too i say, doubt we get 48 thousand at most games this season

Everyone know qualifier are luck off draw and we need bit luck during games too have a chance, most them teams played 10 odd games into there seasons. They match sharpness is the going catch us, not quality off them

Seems a very shrewd move by management if true.

Why go out and spend £6-7m on a couple of players when their is no champions league?

I'm fine with this. Continue to operate prudently. You'd hope we'd get through the first qualifier certainly with zero investment, if we don't we really don't deserve to be playing at Champions League level.

This year is going to be a complete unknown money-wise. We, as fans, must keep attendances up to let the board know there is still the income there. Anything less and we are letting the club down.

i agree if we want to keep the fans this year we need 2/3 players added to the squad......... i look at the team and think 2/3 big players and we have a great squad to have a right go in the champions league

If this is true all I can say is :31:

Without another central defender we may not even qualify. Same old * story.

If it was me I'd strengthen then worry about recouping the losses either now or in January if we do in fact get knocked out. Must remember as well - one or two may want to leave if we don't qualify. Immediate Champions League is also a carrot for any potential signings that won't be there if we don't make it.

Sometimes you need to take a gamble. We're not talking about blowing 10s of millions, we're talking a few million for one or two players who'd really add something to the team. There are a number of fringe players we could live without to generate some cash, and a few real assets if things got desperate.

Why take the risk that got der huns where they are, celtic are going to get much less ££££££ this season we really do have to be carefull.
With ki not going anywhere that killed our spending plans IMO.

    1. we don't want to sell our "real assets" best to keep them.
    2. the fringe players we still have aren't been bought for a reason.
    3. this squad, with the route we have this year, should be enough to qualify and then some.

I'm not saying we should go crazy and spend money we don't have. I'm talking about adding 1 or 2 quality players who would boost our chances of reaching the group stages. Which would be worth about 15 million to us.

I'm disappointed we're not going to gamble because even if we spent on a quality CB, we could easily sell one of our players to cover the cost. (See the bid that came in for Ki recently).

Neil Lennon really better hope we can qualify without strengthening any of the areas required because without Rangers, a lot of supporters are really depending on Group Stage matches to replace that excitement of huge games. I can see why we are not spending until we find out, however - I won't pretend I'm not disappointed.

The Russian club said they never bid for Ki, it wouldn't be as easy to sell a player as we think and any buying club will know we're trying to recoup champions league money, putting us on the back foot in any negotiation.

Hope you are right, he said that if Celtic qualify there will still be a few days left in the transfer market, aye but who will be left to sign, players that no one else wanted!:31:
