You really couldn't make this up..

This is how it all started, a statement on Mogawi's website:

“One last thing, if our single “Batcat” fails to reach the Top 10 in the UK, we will proceed to release one home address per week of a Glasgow Rangers football player. Nacho was the warning shot, wait till we get round to your first team players. Put a Donk on it.”

This following article was in today's Sun:

    Mogwai home in on Gers
CELTIC-mad rockers Mogwai have vowed to publish the addresses of Rangers stars — if their new CD isn’t a Top 10 hit.

The cheeky band joked Ibrox heroes like Barry Ferguson and Alan McGregor will pay if fans fail to buy their song Batcat.
A diary blog on the their website says: “We will release one home address per week of a Rangers football player.”
Last night, an Ibrox spokeswoman said: “We are actively investigating this.”
It comes a week after Gers star Nacho Novo’s home details were posted on a Hoops fans’ forum.

And this was Mogawi's reply on their website

The Sun newspaper which is Reason 2: They are running a story related to this very tour diary where we joked that we’d release Scotland's Shame player’s addresses if Batcat doesn’t go top 10. Apparently Scotland's Shame Football Club are “actively investigating” the matter. This perhaps explains why we’ve noticed dodgy looking folk in our audiences attending the last few shows wearing bowler hats, dignified brown brogues and orange sashes. They didn’t look like Mogwai fans to us and we’ve just found a hidden camera in the Mogwai portable tour chapel, which we feel may be the property of a certain humourless football club in Glasgow
    :56:

That bit in bold is legendary...
