Thought he was very good yesterday, went under the radar a little bit.

  4. He's better than Rogic I think in every department, quality player. Think given the same game time as Rogic he scores more, creates more and he defends better, will probably also develop to be able to play where McGregor does in 2/3 years although will likely be long gone from here.

  5. Annoyingly I could see the whole Leicester situation reer it's head again if Maddison ends up leaving for Newcastle if they keep up their interest.

  6. Better than Rogic in every department is reaching..

O'Riley looks like he'll be more consistent and is well rounded. Quality passer, lovely left foot like Rogic and is better defensively....but Rogic on his day was unplayable..

The close control. Skill. Ability to glide by people. Wasn't quick but could stride by people with ease once he got going. Strong as well..

O'Riley looks the business and has a bit of skill his self....but Rogic was top drawer at time's....just struggled with fitness for many year's and was inconsistent..

  7. Even then though I don't feel more slick than O'Riley, the ball is like a magnet to his feet as well. O'Riley I feel also moves the ball on a wee bit faster than Rogic did and makes more use of his right-foot.

Gliding about with the ball I will give you though, don't really remember a lot of O'Riley carrying the ball on a run and beating men, seems more he beats a man initially and then will run with it but seems to pass and move a bit more rather than going on a run and Rogic could carry a ball well past numerous guys.

I thought he was a bit off it against Aberdeen. Still had some good moments though. You could see he was frustrated at being subbed, although it wasn't a 'spitting the dummy out' frustration.

  9. Aye he has a very good first touch, bit of skill and always seems to have great weight on his passes/through ball's..

I rate him highly by the way. Got loads more gear's to go through as well I think..

A good replacement for Rogic...just a slightly different type of player..

  10. I don't think he'll leave just to be a part time player somewhere else, that's why he left Fulham. I also can't see him going to a mid table club to win nothing. I remember him saying he was blown away by the atmosphere on his first game so I think the Champions League atmos will help! £1.5m - bargain!

If he went to Leicester for big money and was playing and playing well most weeks he would be a serious shout to break.into.the Danish world cup squad. Think him doing that in the short term with us even with the cl games wouldn't be as easy unfortunately

O'Riley will be the better player for me. He'll go onto great things.

He has a lot of attributes going for him and will break our transfer fee record when he does inevitably goes.

    That day I will cry.

Rogic was more skillful with the ball at his feet. Matt is almost as tall as Tam but not as physically imposing and a bit too easy to muscle off the ball in situations where Tam would have used his skill and strength to keep possession.

On the other hand he has strengths that Tam didn't, they're similar players but not identical and Matt still has quite a bit of development to do.

  14. Hope so..

Hopefully O'Riley develops that strength on the ball over time; preferably with us. Rogic was * easy to brush aside for ages too. It wasn't really until last season that I saw Rogic holding off * and shielding the ball for fun. Was just a shame he didn't develop that earlier.

  16. O'Riley has it in him to be everything Rogic was but with undoubtedly the far greater engine.

It's because of that, that would be reasonably see interest in him really heat up come Jan window if he puts in performances especially at CL

  17. Completely agree. Despite the similarities, they're also fairly different. I think O'Riley is better at creating with his vision and those incisive through-balls, but the way Rogic could receive the ball in tight spaces, turn, the incredible control, and just take opponents out of the game is something that O'Riley hasn't shown at all, really.

Although O'Riley clearly has the ability to score nice goals with his left foot, I also can't currently picture him scoring the type of goal Rogic scored last season at Tannadice. Rogic always had those moments in his locker, where he could change a game with that kind of skill, plus he scored big goals in big games repeatedly. O'Riley is much younger though and you'd like to think has a higher ceiling.

When he was on it Rogic had a fire in him where you just knew that he was going to score or create a goal for a team mate even if he had to run through a brick wall (or snap a Gers ankle) to do it. It's why he scored or assisted so many late winners.

With O'Riley we may get more consistency but I don't see the same fire or passion inside him that Tam had. I think when we are backs against the wall is when we will feel the difference the most.

(I of course hope Matt proves me wrong)

How many late goals and assists did he really get? I remember some from the invincible season but I think that is being overplayed.
O'Riley is showing to me thst he is far more consistent, something we badly needed especially when leagues are going to be close. Rogic could be great but how often did he reach those levels?

We don't win the league last year if Rogic wasn't in our squad, it's that simple. Whether it be his goal late in first half injury time for our 1-0 win over motherwell, his assist for Ralston in the dying seconds against Ross County or him keeping his head and equalising at Ibrox.

Ross County in December is the perfect example. Ralston rightly gets lauded for it but it was Rogic who created the opportunity. He drops back out into space at the edge of the box, signald for the ball to be passed to him, then lobs it up into the box for Ralston to get his head on. The goal could not and would not have happened if Rogic wasn't looking for ways to get a goal right until the dying seconds of the game.

O'Riley has bags of potential and I agree could in the long term be even better than Rogic. Could. Potential is all well and good but it's end product that wins us titles.

Maybe he has it in him to be the kind of player who can salvage games or be pivotal mutiple times over to us winning an invincible season. But he hasn't actually done it yet, or shown that he has that kind of passion. He might but as of now it's far too early to say. It's really, if we are being honest, also too early to call him more consistent than Tam. 5 months isn't enough to make a final judgment on that. It wouldn't be hard lets be honest such was the torrid time Rogic had with injuries and Lennon. But until it's actually been proven over a season or really back to back to back seasons, potential is all it can be said to be.
