Just want to big up Mark Wilson guys. Several other players are getting plaudits, and rightly so. Kayal, Rogne, Hooper and more recently Ki and McCourt have all been lauded.

An unsung hero has been Mark Wilson at right back. When Chi went off to the Asian Cup there was a bit of concern at the lack of cover. Well Mark has came in and , for me anyway, has been rock solid. Good cover at the back and willing to get forward. He has always been a player who has never quite got into the side but now this could be the break he has needed. I cant see how Lenny can replace him at the moment.

I think Mark has done alright, but to be honest, last night he gave the ball a way a few times. Personally i'd like to see us bringinging in a right back of izzy's pedigree

Yea i agree he has been excellent, i dont think it was a case of him not getting a chance before is he not injured a lot? pretty sure he is a bit injury prone but hopefully he stays clear of the medical room and continues to play as good as he has.

I'll second that. I honestly thought his Celtic career was over but he's done well this season. Put a few decent balls into the box the other night too and competent covering at the back. Well done Mark!

He's done ok and usually does but still think he's more of a squad player/back up. And i dont think Cha is better than him. Be happy if we signed good RB in summer and let either Cha or Wilson go. Prob prefer to keep Wilson cos he's been a decent servant over the years.

Totally agree here very consistent and solid at defending.
I am more confident in the celtic defence with wilson than cha at right back cha goes awol to often for me.

I like my defenders to defend first.

He's been decent in the last few weeks but lets not get ahead of ourselves.

We played well at Ibrox but i remember he was commiting needless fouls and on another day we wouldnt get away with it.

I'd still look at getting a RB in - in the summer.

    Some stupid comments guys!

Brilliant defencively. Wingers are NOT beating him ( or izzy ) and no balls are being put in to the box from the wide postions were lots of teams rely on. ( Tempelton for hearts. Weiss for Rangers ) And what i always thought was great was his will power. Chases every * * ball and * loves a trier.

As someone stated either he is prodiminately a defender so i'd rather have that than a wingback idea. His staying back alows Izzaguire to rush forward!

And his delivery anint to shabby either :50: Also he has stayed here all his life. Good tim, loved how passionate his celebrations were when Sammy scored at the * pit on Jan!

I would argue, he has been decent because he has had a wee run. Last night he defended like a demon. On one or two occasions when the forward play had broken down, he worked his * off to get back into place. That type of attitude is just what we need in our team.

I honestly dont think he can be dropped. As has been said, our full backs are defending well and stopping the crosses coming in. Cha will have to wait.

that is exactly my thoughts plus would also say wilson does a fine job defending as a right back could do with learning how to cross a bit better cause he makes some great runs to the byline

he has done ok but I would not want him their the whole season, would rather put Juarez or Hinkel their, or if the news about Hinkel is too be believed have him when he comes back early

I am not a big fan of Wilson, however he played well against Hearts, and got stuck in.

always liked wilson and now that his injuries are behind him and hopefully dont come back we can see the real wilson that we saw when he was playing left back a few seasons ago. he is a player we can count on to be solid and not make to many mistakes he does his job and that is defending

He is a proper FB not some sort of wing back. You get a sieve if you play 2 wing back type FBs in a 4-4-2. Right now we are playing the same sort of lop-sided but somehow solid back 4 as we did under Wim. He played 2 CHs and an out and out defender (Boyd) at RB but with a real wingback style LB in the form of Mahe. That made us a little lop sided but he balanced it by playing a CM type player like O'Donnel or Wieghorst on the left in front of Mahe.

I would like to see Wilson play a lot of games. However, I dont think you can play Wilson and a CM type player on the right without losing too much width. You need at least one play on each side who can go on the outside.

absolute no-brainer to deal him in before the end of season ..... injuries ? ... yes ... but i dont think there is a single celtic fan who thinks he can't be relied on ....
there will be the usual clamour saying we need a better right back ... but thats always the case... in the last ten years when we HAVE been successful the fans tend to voice their displeasure at the positions they deem to be the ones we need to improve (i.e telfer in strachan's side ... left back for longer than that) ....
i dont envisage wilson breaking the bank in contract negotiations ..... i think he is what we need ... dependable.

The very epitome of what a good squad player should be, when called upon comes in and does his job, consistent and reliable :50:
