Didn’t see the game unfortunately but sounds like he impressed.

With all the hype when we signed him I am still very surprised at his lack of opportunities up to this point. He can play a number of positions too.

Hope he gets more chances. From what I have heard his attitude is first class and he is very talented.

I know it’s not his preferred position but think he would be great at left back with his wand of a left foot. Would be good competition for Taylor as Boli isn’t anywhere near up to it yet. Would rather he plays in midfield but he is definitely an option if Taylor gets injured or needs a rest.

Was only 45 minutes but was majorly impressed with him today. Great awareness, looks like he's got a bit of dig about him and an absolute wand of a left foot and according to celtic TV, he's bit of a character in the dressing room. On that showing I think we may finally have found the long term successor to Brown.

The question is what do we do with him in the meantime? He needs regular 1st team football to continue developing. Would imagine on today's showing there will be a few spfl teams enquiring about a loan.
I would still consider him for left wing back role. I know its not his natural position but he still looks a far better option than Bolingoli.

I’d like to see him given a shot at left back at the very least. He has superb vision and weight of pass but also clearly likes a tackle as well.

Don’t know if he had the pace or the engine to get up and down the line but there’s only one way to find out.

if we are allowed to use 5 subs this season it would be great to see him get some game time

Could see him playing the left wing back role in a similar way to Alan Thompson who was so so good on be ball he didn't need pace

We are overloaded with midfielders at the moment, so left back is a good call.
I was well impressed with him last night.

Nah he needs to play in the midfield for me his time will come. If he goes into LB he will end up never getting out it

Good shout that he can also play at left back. I would have to think a better option defensively at least then Bolingoli as back up and given he is normally a holding mid gives good cover off the bench. Only a 45 minute appearance today but I really liked his range of passing and composure on the ball. Good work rate and some important tackles defensively. Given the massive load of games we will potentially face this season he likely will get some opportunities if he keeps playing like he did today and you would think could at least force his way onto the bench and get some starts.

I agree. He might end up playing there because we have no one else but I don't think it'll help him longer term. There is a lot of game time coming up in a shorter than usual time so I'd expect him to get his chance that way. Whether he can stay in the team would then be down to performance, which is good for everyone.

Never agree with playing players out of position just because they’re “okay” all rounders and will put a shift in regardless. Like when we played calMac at LB. takes away from their best attributes in the game. We should be signing players who are proficient in their preferred position, not buying players and moulding them into a different position because we’ve not got the right transfers in

Looks cracking but so does Robertson and Soro not to mention having Ntcham and Rogic in the mix behind the main starters. Ridiculous depth in the middle but also kind of wasted for this season, would like to see him at left back.

If he's not gonna get frequent game time at centre mid surely after the other day Hibs would take him for the season on loan.

We don’t know that playing Connell at left back is playing him out of position.

Again, there’s only one way to find out...

Aye? Might want to tell him that, Bolton Wanderers and the Ireland youth set up.

He’s stated he can and has played there and has done for his previous team and Ireland.

Similarly Mulgrew was for the most part a left back with a wand of a left foot. Mulgrew was played at centre mid for a while when on loan at Dundee Utd.

If Connell has a talent for finding a pass and can receive the ball well, id imagine his future could be in midfield, but then again with us struggling at left back, who knows.

Watched the game the other day and watching him was a delight, really positive for the future of Celtic. There was a pass made to him, he looked like he was going to pass back to the defenders, done some magical thing with his feet and took 3 Hibs players out the game and rolled the 4th, watched it 4 or 5 times just to appreciate how tidy it was.
