    Hi everybody,

I´m a barça supporter and I m from Catalonia, I´ve just watch a video in youtube ( [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JqKai5-JxVg"]celtic v juventus 12.2.13 viva la quinta brigada - YouTube[/ame] ). In that video the celtic supporters were singing the song "La quinta brigada".
Let me say thanks for the people that fought in spain in the civil war and this post is a tribute for them .

    Best regards,
    Xavier (barça supporter)

It is a nice song, and nicer if it is heard from the celtic supporters or from the scottish and irish people.

In fact the person who wrote the song was wrong, the truth is it was the fifteenth brigada. :)

Yeah that him, I never knew him but my family lived next to him for 15 years and knew him quite well but they never knew of his history, they just thought he was a normal old man but when he died they seen him on the news and were shocked as it was about 25 years after they moved and he was obviously old then in his 70s but lived to 99. Then they found out he was quite interesting and there was songs etc about him.

So the lyrics of the song should be viva la quince brigada?

It doesnt really matter, I think there were 5 International brigades although the british/irish one were called the 15th so you could claim the song is about both.

Should be called quince brigada or quinta brigadas.

Yes, La quince brigade (XV Brigada) called Brigada Abraham Lincoln too. There were americans, canadians and british, irish and scottish soldiers.

    I read this,
Although the Irish were part of the XV International Brigade, the original title of the song was Viva la Quinta Brigada. Moore tried to rename Viva la Quince Brigada later when he knew his mistake, but it was late and still played in its original form for all Irish pubs and taverns.
