Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay is set to enter the Far Eastern market to bolster his Premier League push with South Korean midfielder Kim Bo-Kyung.

The midfielder, who is currently playing in Japan for Cerezo Osaka has rejected a move to French Ligue 2 outfit AS Monaco and now looks destined for the Bluebirds or Celtic.

Speaking to Goal.com the 22-year-old attacking midfielder-come-winger said: “I do not care that Cardiff are in the Championship. I have no experience in Europe, so I am happy to learn step by step.

“I want to play in the UK or Germany and Cardiff City and Celtic are places that would allow me to develop.”

Bo-Kyung is highly thought of in his native Korea and has currently won 13 international caps alongside former Manchester United (now QPR) star Park Ji0-Sung, who has said he expects the starlet to succeed him as the superstar of Korean football.

The capital club's Malaysian owners are keen to market the club in the Far East and would certainly see the signing of the talented Bo-Kyung as a great opportunity to develop the Cardiff City brand in Asia.

The former Hongik University student, who scored eight goals in the 2011 J-League season added: “My agent and club officials at Cerezo Osaka are currently handling my transfer.”

Might as well. Shinji Kagawa was unheard of when he came to Dortmund from the J-League and look where he is now.

Not necessarily. It could be his agent using us to get him an English club.

Hopefully if he is any good CL football may sway his decision in choosing us over Cardiff.

There is a couple of videos of him in the non media rumours thread, looks pretty exciting from them. Quite like his attitude by that statement aswell.

I put this and a video in the non-media rumours if anybody wants a look. I hope he would pick us over them since we have a good history of Asain players like du wei! No but seriously with zhing zhi, ki sung young, koki mizuno, cha du ri, du wei and the legend of Nakamura weve had more Asains at our club than alot of other clubs.

If we really wanted him he'd choose us over Cardiff, Cardiff are *. Apparantly monaco agreed a fee of 6million euros for him but he didn't want to go there.

Hmm... 6 mill is out of our league.

We should sign his brother instead, Kim Bo-Slice. :icon_mrgreen:

Replacement for Ki, I guess, for the PR side of things. Hope he's a better footballer.

if we really want him then he would come here Id like to think, especially with our Korean link already.

the japanese club he plays with atm is where Kagawa started out am sure, and dortmund have been rumoured to be looking at this guy, so there must be something about him.
