Kieran Tierney

Discussion in 'Celtic Chat' started by Mr. Slippyfist, Aug 1, 2015.

  1. The huns early attacks like first 15/20 minutes were all against Lustig and Boyata they seemed to get in behind them 4/5 times in that early spell. After that they never really attacked as much, think their goals came around then? and they just mostly held possession in the middle of the park.

    2nd half they mostly tried attacking Tierney's side but never really got any joy from what I remember, they never really troubled our defence outwith the opening 20 minutes of the game. I mind thinking at the end of the game that I dont think they even had a shot at goal in the 2nd half? then in extra time I can only mind them having 1 shot as well which they scored.

    Tierney was solid I thought, definitely our best player, few good runs forward, set up a goal and never really got beaten despite being attacked 10/15 times during the game.

    His work rate and drive is exemplary. An 18 year old who with not even a fraction of the experience and wages as some of the others. Really puts a few to shame. Defends, attacks, never stops going. Class.

    I dont think it matters at this stage. He wouldnt leave to sit on their bench, (at best)as he will have plenty of sound advisors (family and friends)keeping his feet on the ground, particularly if his contract is reexamined and adjusted. In fact i dont think they will even bid for him now.

    However, if he continues to shine and gets half a dozen more caps next year, i think we will lose him in a years time.

    Wouldn't be shocked if they signed him and loaned him back to us for a year or two.

    He doesn't deserve the * he's getting here. I'll support him wherever he goes, Celtic player or not. The kid knows what it is to pull on the jersey.

    * that. Give him a proper contract and don't give the lad any reason to leave. He's unbelievably good.

    He is playing well, although should spend as much time with us as he can, going to man city he will just be another one on the conveyor belt, up here he will get experience of being a senior player who is relied upon

    Would have loved to have seen him play alongside ledley who filled the LB position for Izzy and allowed him to go forward, also give him more cover, and allow him to make mistakes as he is obviously still learning

    Celtic boy at heart, I don't think he'll leave anytime soon. Certainly hope he doesn't, doesn't strike me as the type of lad that will make the big move straight away.

    Says a lot when your best player is an 18 year old who's only played 20 odd games. More desire, more fight than the senior players.

    * it. Tierney player-manager!

    He's not played nearly enough for me mate. Griffiths has done it every week on his own. To be picked in front of Leigh, playing half the games is a slap in the face to him imo.
