What? How am I mocking the Irish squad? Simply saying that being an Irish international doesn't mean you are a good player and certaintly doesn't mean you are good enough for Celtic. There are very few current Irish internationals who would improve us imo.

trappatoni is a top manager and will be taking players who can perform a specific job within the way he sets his team out to play.As for andrews coming to celtic, we could do alot worse as experienced international midfielders on free transfers are good buisness.Celtic are short when it comes to experience and i am sure the likes of brown and ledley would benefit from a guy like him.If we can save money in on area it will hopefully let us spend a decent amount on say a centre half.

but we don't need central midfielders, bringing him in wouldn't save us money because its not a position we need to strengthen.

brown and ledley are 26 and 25 respectively and both have more caps for their country than andrews has for his. They also both have more european experience than andrews so i'm not really sure what wisdom he could impart to them. Central midfield is not a position that we need to be adding to right now with the likes of kayal, ledley, brown, wanyama, and ki all able to play there without mentioning mcgeough and ibrahim who can both also play center midfield. The only reason we should be looking to add a center midfielder for is if he improves our team significantly which andrews would not.

    And so on.

I haven't added Ki as I think he'll be off.

No thanks. Midfield is more than strong enough.

looks like lenny is shaping up for a five man midfield so if they sell a ki for 5 million and bring in andrews for me that would be good buisness as ki couldnt tackle a child.and as much as i love celtic having a young team there is always room for someone in the peak of there career with a bit of savy in how a game is going , whn to slow play down etc and for me the celtic team showed a bit of immatureness at times in games we should have won.

Agree with this. Last season we looked weak in midfield when either Brown or Kayal were sidelined with long term injury, and Ki in central midfield was like a man down.

Keith Andrews would add some steel and muscle to our midfield, especially as you say in a five man midfield like in Europe or tough away league contests, and would be cover for either Kayal, Brown or Ledley getting injured.Makes sense to me to get Andrews in, and hopefully punt Ki for whatever we can get.

    Shay Given

    Roy Keane

These players would be guaranteed a start.

As for the rest of the team they have proven themselves at the highest level something our squad has yet to do. We base our opinions on what our players have done playing in the SPL and against 2nd rate European club teams in a secondary club competition.

Pretty much this, those 4 players performing will be key, if they do Ireland could qualify, if they dont Ireland are * imo.

The rest of the team is full of decent players who try their best and give their all, like Andrews, but who are not of as good a quality of those 4. Or players like McClean and McCarthy who have the potential to be as good as them.

Basically you just made my point for me, the Irish squad is very average and only 3-4 of their players would get into our team. I don't think Keane would start(assuming you mean Robbie), Hooper is much better currently and if played regularly Stokes would get us around the same number of goals.
