He didnt cost that much though, from the accounts we only paid £5.53million for Simunovic, Allan, Bailly, Ciftci, Christie, Janko and Blackett.

If Ciftci cost £1m, Christie £600k, Janko £400k, Allan £300k, Bailly £300k and maybe Blackett a £200k loan fee or something then he would only have cost £2.7million.

Most claimed Ciftci cost £1.5million too. Most likely Simunovic cost between £2.2m-£2.7m, so not really near £4million.

Shocking decision, should have been given until January to see if he could put last season behind him. Toure will be away after the year he's only a quick fix, ambrose and boyata still there and we're letting simonovic go. When you compare the amount of money Celtic have brought in compared to what we have spent this window has been tragic once again. Board sold the fans down by the river once again. We will get absolutely bullied in the CL. Get one more signing if we are lucky and will more than likely be another cheap option as was Gamboa! Rodgers wanted wisdom that was evident, but the board won't cough up the money after all we've brought in. Joke completely and utterly scunnered with it.

12 months ago there were so many figures flying around. One day it was £5m, next day it was 5m Euros. Earlier in this post ChrisMoh said SPFL were showing £2.8m. So who knows.

All I remember from 12 months ago was that the Zagreb head honcho was saying the sale was 5/5.5m Euros with 25% add ons. The highest add on fee his Club had secured. So if we take the worst case scenario, with exchange rates at the time, 5.5m Euros would have equated to £4m.

If we sell him for 4m Euros, in today's money, that's around £3.4m. If and it is an If, the sell on fee to Zagreb was 25% of total, that would equate to £850k. So, on these sums, which are based on what the Zagreb head honcho said 12 months ago, we would receive a net £2.5m.

I cannot for the life of me believe Peter, oor Peter, would agree to sell a player, a young player at that, for a loss in 12 months of £1.5m. Something is wrong here - either the figures, or with Jozo, or we have someone else lined up and BR has said he doesn't fit into his plans.

So I am hoping that the figure quoted by ChrisMoh of £2.8m from SPFL - don't know where you would source that info - is nearer the mark, in which case, on a sale price of 4m Euro, or £3.4m, with a max sell on fee of 25% to Zagreb, we would just about break even.

If I had to guess I'd say it's personal reasons. I can't see why he'd leave when we're offering Champions League this season and he'd be in with a good shout of at least making the bench; and with a manager who isn't averse to changing things up at the back he'd definitely get a game. Italy and Croatia aren't that far apart so kind of makes sense.

Would've sooner seen Ambrose or Boyata leave the defensive ranks but I suppose we're a bit overloaded in defence and realistically should be looking to get rid of at least two anyway. He got a bad injury last season but he also strikes me as injury prone in general so might not be a bad sale from a club perspective.
