I cant see us matching what the Championship clubs will be willing to pay.

I totally accept that a center back should be a priority but theres no reason why we cant sign both.

I believe we will come to rue the day we decided not to put in a higher offer at an early stage. This deal should have been wrapped up weeks ago.

Not too bothered if we lose out on Mcginn, but if this is the man Brendan saw as Browns replacement in a few years time, then why weren’t we prepared to pay the extra million quid hibs wanted, with all the money we have earned from the champions league the past few seasons? That worries me, what is being done with all the cash we’re supposed to have? So far this summer we’ve only really spent around £2m if you factor in Armstrong being sold.

We’ve earned at least around £55m from the champions league the past 2 seasons, so why is hardly any of this being invested in the squad?

if Brendan is wanting McGinn and te board dont get him ???? Brendan is looking to the future in buying him, as i said buy him now and loan him out. if he goes down south we will never be able to afford him again if he comes on the market

  6. We can compete with championship for players but I wouldn't bother we are smarter than them when it comes to players that's the difference

He will be here next summer after a pre contract.

No way he will match close to the asking price. Would be surprised if he bid again.

    He’ll hold out for us.

  8. We'll see how much of a Tim he is now then..

Very true. Mind you, seem to remember Anthony Stokes having a choice between us and Sunderland....

  12. I can't even remember the circumstances of Stokes or his contract or that, but if McGinn is this big time Tim, as we're continually told......then wouldn't it be a no brainer to sit tight till the English window shuts to get your dream move?

Going to play in a lower league. Would most likely never get his chance again for us..

Time will tell us a lot..

I dont believe that. He wont even be on 10k a week at Hibs, maybe not even 5k. not a chance Villa would throw that kind of wages his way. They are going through some financial issues as it is, I dont think they will be going to any unnecessary excesses.

Well in Celtic. Probably the first we are hearing of it as well so that’s no midfielder coming in

  18. Why are Villa bidding 5m when the asking price is 4m?
Either it’s bullshit or proof that English clubs just throw around money stupidly.

I was always kinda take him or leave him so I’m not too fussed about losing out.
    Definitely not worth 4m.

Only problem I can see is, as other posters have mentioned, if this was a player BR really wanted and the board * it up for him by penny pinching, it might not sit well with him.

    Couldn't care less.

Quite unnerving that some viewed him as some kind of priority transfer.
