Celtic are eyeing a bid for Huddersfield striker James Vaughan in January - manager Neil Lennon watched him score a penalty in Huddersfield's Championship win over Burnley on Saturday, where he was also assessing Danny Ings. (Scottish Sun)

The Celtic boss says he will be looking at "British-types" rather than going abroad as he seeks someone to replace the goal threat once offered by Gary Hooper. (Sunday Mail)

    Totally uninspiring.

James Vaughan is a decent striker and 9 goals in 12 starts for a mid table championship team is a good record. Dont know about Danny Ings though, just saw his stats and they also seem to look pretty good.

The Championship is where we should be looking for players.

It is around about our level. The EPL is too unrealistic for us to tap into, as most players in that league are interested in money ahead of trophies anyway. Championship players on the other hand, probably want a taste of what its like to play in Europe and in front of almost 50,000 fans every second week.

    Yeah, why not.
This is the sort of level that we have to buy players from I suppose.

Danny Ings is a really good player. Well, every time I've seen him play he's looked good. I'd ve pleased if we got him

Danny Ings has been playing really well, only 21.

7 assists and 15 goals in 22 games for Burnley and England U21s this season.

Ings would cost too much. Burnley are destroying the league

So in other words Lenny says we are looking for more British type players and a new striker and the media immediately tout us with moves for British strikers we have been linked with before, great work there guys

There were 27 players on show in that game, maybe he was watching Paul Dixon to bring him in as Izzy's back-up, maybe looking at bringing Ross Wallace or Danny Lafferty back to the club in that position, linking us with Vaughan and Ings is guess work.

We have probably 0 chance of getting Ings in January as Burnley will be looking at getting promoted, theyd probably want something mental like £6million in January but if they fail to get promoted a sneaky £3million bid in the summer might work as Ings might want to leave.

They're not the most wealthy of teams. 3/3.5 could do it. They're down to 2nd now but they've got one of the smallest squads in the league so I wouldn't be surprised if they sold Ings to get some more players in. They already have Vokes there so they wouldn't be * in the striker department if Ings did go.

I watched these two yesterday myself and they look like solid players.

Remember, where did we sign Hooper from? And from a * team as well.

Championship level is where we should be buying from indeed.

Pick up the best from Scotland and the best from England - outwith the EPL - and we'll find we'll be onto a much stronger team again.

The odd gem from abroad looks well on paper but we're not on that boat all the time.

We're too often let down from signings who have no experience in British football and/or cannot adapt to the game well enough.
