    CELTIC hope to seal a deal to land Morton kid Isaac English.

    SunSport understands the Hoops are on the brink of agreeing a fee - believed to be in the region of £50,000 - to sign the 17-year-old.


    Defender English was earmarked by Celts talent spotters after his displays for the Cappielow Under-18s side that lifted the Club Academy Scotland Performance League title.

    He has yet to make a first team appearance under boss Dougie Imrie but has been trainingwith the senior squad.

    If English does move to Parkhead he will become the first player Ton have sold since 2013, when Michael Tidser was sold to Rotherham.

    Aye, whether it not it ultimately works out in the long run, these are the sort of moves we should be making.

    I just hope we actually have a plan for developing him, with a clear pathway to the first-team if all goes well, and he isn’t just the next lad that’s going being sent to languish in the B-Team with no direction.

    As an aside, that little fact about Morton not having sold a player since 2013 is mental.

    Four year deal, debut at 20 with a year left to go. Refuses to sign a new deal and we call him entitled, cash chasing and * ego as he prefers a move away from us.

    What I hope isn't gonna happen, but likely will.
