Seriously, what do you think needs to be done to get us out of this so called recession.

I think money needs to be made available for affordable housing.

If people are buying houses, basically every single area of jobs is covered.

But remember to keep it affordable :50:

    * Bob where do you start?

Money for mortgages definetely. If people can get that at least the construction industry can start to pick itself up a bit.

Apart from the obvious Padmill of slashing bankers pay and bonuses, keeping an eye on expenses....i think if the construction industry got going, the rest would follow.

Bob, construction is first in and first out of a recession, and the signs are that construction is picking up and will kick on in 2011, will be 2013 before everyone has the same feeling

See i think that is where it all started to go wrong.

Thatcher & the government encouraged everyone to get in debt
by either buying a house (or their council house)

This was seen as a status symbol,to show you were getting further
on in life than your parents.

What it did do was make you less likely to be a problem
people could see that if you were on strike you couldn't
pay your mortgage so you ended up not only evicted, but you
owed mega money to the building societies on top of that.

I think if they started building council houses again & letting people
rent them we would be in a better position.

When they sold the council houses the money didn't go to build
new council houses, they just squandered it.

There were also the pit houses. They all got sold.

I am not blaming people for wanting to better themselves, but i
know a lot of people bought these houses with money that wasn't
theirs & when they passed away the houses went to the money
lenders/business people who could see the opportunity when it
    came about

How they did it in the big depression was building weapons and making ready for war. Have you got any country specific you dislike?
