Just want to get people's opinions seein as the first game is at paradise would approach tactically and try to stop inter at their own game? Or go defensively and counter or just go for it?

Personally i would just go for it and overwhelm them using the crowd aswell just blow them away get an early goal get it absolutely rocking beat them to every ball and win all the 50 50s and i really believe we can do them just a case right lads this is glasgow celtic football club we are bigger than inter go out there and play your own game use your own initiative and play for each other give these fans a night to remember show them you deserve to wear the jersey show inter why they should fear us and why you are here .

I'd play cautiously. The Italian teams tend to sit back and let us play a bit then open us up with sharp counter attacks. We need to be savvy and not let them use that strategy.

Keep it tight, win the 50/50s and build attacks cautiously. I don't think they'll overcommit in attack so I think counter attacks might be difficult.

Playing the way the original post implies will likely end up in losing 3-1 or something. We need a much better defence.

Inter's weakest at the back. I'd stick with the 4-2-3-1 (Ronny will, let's be honest). Traditional counter to an opponent playing with three centre-halves is to play with one up top, so that might work in our favour. Our fullbacks will probably need to push up to pin their wingbacks back, so it'd be good to have Broony and Charlie in the centre to cover Lustig and Emilio. I might be talking * but... :smiley-laughing002:

I have absolutely no idea with this side. Hopefully we have some fresh blood to work with.

In terms of line-up the back 4 picks itself as does the 2 CM's usually.

I've no real confidence in this side yet. I always felt we had a chance against anyone under Lennon because we were well organised. We've absolutely no cohesion in defence or between defence and midfield. They all play as individuals and individually, we're not the best.

I'm kind of the same as well I must be honest, at this level anyway.

I appreciate what RD is trying to incorporate but I hope we don't sacrifice our defensive capabilities for it. Especially at this level.

Our defence and counter attacking skills are what we must rely on in europe, have to play to our strengths and admit that we don't have the best players in the tournament. However if we work as a unit and use energy and physicalness to run down the opposition we could cause trouble.

Really need a couple of additions though, preferably ones with some sort of European experience.

Depends on who we sign this month.

Right now I don't think we have the wingers to play with wide men, but we also don't have a sufficient attacking midfielder to play without wingers.

Obviously we get away with playing Stokes out wide in the SPL, but, as usual I don't see him doing it in Europe.

Sign GMS and an attacking midfielder and go 4-2-3-1 maybe even a defender and we can take it to them at Celtic Park.

I would just go all out attacking at home, if we are going to lose might aswell go down in style, I fear for us in the San Siro so we need to win at park head by a decent margin!

I dont know how to want to approach if we go at them they'll punish us on the counter
If we play it defensively well eventually fall apart because our defence as a unit is * and has terrible cohesion with the midfield two.
Just dont know what to want with the team under ronny:54:

I say go at them hard for the first 10 or 15 minutes, get the crowd behind the team and see what Inter are made of, and try to nick an early goal. Then tighten it up a little, cuz they'll rip us to shreds on the counter if we keep up an all out attack mentality for 90 minutes. But keep up the intensity in the tackle throughout, don't give them a second on the ball, let them know they are in Celtic Park.
Hard to pick a team at the moment, depends on how the transfer window goes and who will be on form at the time, but as is, I'd play Mulgrew in the middle with Brown, he has more experience than Bitton in these big games and better in a more defensive role.
Johansen in front of them with Forrest (if fit) and either Stokes or a new winger if we buy one (depending on form) on the wings and Guidetti up front.

If everyone is fit, and assuming we don't invest heavily in January

    Gordon

    Lustig Denayer VVD Izzy

    Brown Mugrew
    Johansen
    Forrest Stokes/New Guy

    Guidetti

As poetic and beautiful as this is, our current squad doesnt seem to have the character to rally like that but I hope i wrong. Inter have some world class players and i'm worried shaqiri and guarin will have their way with our backline. I think sitting back and countering through big john would be the best way to approach this game.

We need 5 in midfield one of whom should be ready to break to support Guidetti? I would love that to be Commons.Defence need to get a grip of themselves. Hopefully Denayer back and up to speed by then. Otherewise bombscare Efe and we all know what that means!!!!

They have a far better squad of players than we have so you have to respect that.

We don't have to sit in and set up entirely to stifle them for 90 minutes but we can't expect it to pan out like a normal League game because it won't be like that. They will put us under pressure for large chunks of the game both home and away.
