    Just watched that football legends thing on Sky Sports, it was the Lionel Messi one.

    I think 91 goals he scored in a single calender, just wondering how many Henrik scored, must have been a decent number - not 91 mind you.

    Probably the years 2000 or 2001 would have been his highest?

    Couldn't tell you for sure.

    But i'd guess probably around 60. Probably less.

    91 goals in a year, that is just stupid.

    It's when you see it written down it sinks in how ridiculous Messi is as a footballer.

    2001 would have been Larsson's highest scoring year . Winning the treble in the frst half of 2001 (end of 2000-2001) season , scoring i would guess around 30 of his 53 goals that season in 2001. The next season we retained the title (2001-2002) larsson hit around 35ish goals that season , lets say 18 before christmas .

    that would be a total of 48 for celtic in the year 2001 .
    So around 50 would be my estimate ? Nowhere near 91 anyway .

    Interesting, thought I'd look into it for you:

    1998 - 22
    1999 - 34
    2000 - 30
    2001 - 52
    2002 - 48
    2003 - 34
    2004 - 34

    So 2001 being his most prolific of his years at the hoops

    Edit: Should add that 2004 included 8 barca goals

    Cheers man. Does that include international goals aswell?

    Brilliant mate.

    Genuinely amazing how good a goalscorer he was, 52 goals in a calender year is awesome.


    But aye, does put it into perspective how good Messi is. Larsson was a machine and even Messi score nearly 40 calender year goals more than him.

    McGrory in 1926 scored 15 goals in the first 4 games in January, imagine someone doing that nowadays :56:
