Always prefer looking around here rather than commenting, but anyway going on holiday in the summer with a few mates for the first time. Was wondering what was better self catering or all inclusive . most of them want to go all inclusive but I was think self catering. Whats better ?

If you are going with your mates for a party holiday then I would recommend self catering, that way you aren't tied to the hotel the whole time.

Going all inclusive is good for me but l dont think l would suggest it to a group of young guys.

The pros are that most of your spending money is taken care of in regards food and drink. Good if your working on a budget.

The cons are that you and all your pals would be restricted to your hotel all night when you maybe want to be off out somewhere with a crowd your own age as its usually mostly families. The drinks on an all inclusive deal are locally produced and are normally bogging.

l would suggest maybe half board then at least you know your getting a breakfast and a dinner each day and then you can buy your bevy cheap in the local supermecados and have a party on your balconies before you go out at night.

It depends on how much the all-inclusive places cost, how much you eat, and if you like cooking. I prefer self-catering, because I enjoy cooking and I also like trying local restaurants. If you are considering self-catering, find out if there is a shop nearby in a convenient location. All-inclusive can be great if you don't want to worry about preparing meals and it's convenient, but will limit you to places within the resort- for example, you will not want to go anywhere outside of the resort to eat nor drink because you have already paid for it there.

16 of us went to Magaluf last June and went all inclusive.Going to Ibiza in July all inclusive again. Couldn't imagine going anything different.
Predrinks in the hotel all day, food there if you want it. Even if you run out of money you've got the drink there for you in the hotel.

Had all inclusive at Cancun and would recommend it. Only downside is it made us not really leave the resort, just sitting about the beach all day getting free drinks.

If you go all inc on some of the large chains of
hotels, you can use the facilities at different resorts,
we had this opportunity a few years ago in Mallorca

Tins of soup were the order of the day when I went on a lads holiday. And the odd fry up or 14 :86:

Just don't take a mate with you who pulls a homeless burd and takes her back to your hotel room and she eats all yer food :icon_mrgreen:

All inc is the way to go!! Especially if you can get 24hr All Inc. Cant beat getting in from a club and being able to walk into a buffet, already paid for at 5 in the morning! :50:
