Happy what would have been your 68th birthday wee man....

Ill write this out by myself, as i cant find the lyrics :56:

They talk of men like Pele
    and the great Eusebio,
    and even Stanley Matthews,
    who played so long ago.,,,,,,,,,
He's even aced the Belfast boy,
    wee George was second best.
Not Johnan Cruyff, not on your life
    Wee jinky was the best.....

    went down to Largs 1 daaaay, by the C L Y D E
Sure it was my intention to learn to waterskii
I was up behind a speedboat but what was that I see
Weeeee Jinky in a rowing boat and he was passing me

Overthere at Ibrox Park, against the rangers side he played,
John Greig and all his cronies, in bed they should have stayed
And then his 'Auld' pal Bertie got on his Knees and prayed
Saying 'Mother Mary you were right, in heavan wee Jinks was made'

Away across in Lisbon, as the sun was beating down
Big Jock and all his Lions, and most of glesga town
Around the Milanese, wee Jink danced round and round,
until your man Faccheti was corkscrewed in the groundddd

Against the mighty Yugoslavs, the pride of old Belgrade
Big Jock he praised wee Jinky, cos what a game he played
They couldnae get him on the plane, it was a fine to-do
Jink says 'I'll take my rowing boat if it's all the same to you'.....

So come on raise your voices and everybody sing
of little Jimmy Johnstone, a wizard on the wing
He brought us Joy and magic, in the Celtics white and green
No doubt he was the finest theat the world has ever seen.

From jumpers for goalposts in the town of uddingston, to ripping apart real madrid in the bernebeu staium, he was only 5 foot 4, but a giant of a man.

when Celtic won the European cup in 67, they were asked to play real madrid in DE Stefano's testimonial game as European champions and wee jinky ran real madrid ragged. big jock had to take jinky off to let real get a shot of the ball.

met him a few times when he worked with lafferty's the builders.
a Celtic supporter who played for Celtic. you can't ask for more than that

Wee Jinky was the most gifted and talented player to pass through Parkhead's gates and a fantastic man to boot, guaranteed spot in the heaven XI I say.
