I've recently started on the B Spec mode on my GT5 as it's a good way to earn money and new cars whilst doing something else. Stick your driver in a car he can't possibly lose in set it to maintain pace and leave him to it. The one race that has me baffled as to which car to use for it is the Historic Racing Car Cup. I won a 1970 Toyota racing car and done the A Spec version easily enough but even with a class 30 B Spec driver he still doesn't have the balls to nudge anyone out the way or ram into them when going fast into a corner. My Toyota race car has been tuned as far as it can go so it's the most powerful on the track but on the Cote Da Zure which is mostly corners with no real areas for high speed over taking I really am stumped. I recently discovered that you can only bank a maximum of £20,000,000 in credits and that £20million 1960s Ferrari is gorgeous so I was thinking of using up all my cash for that (the £20million 1960s green Jag is quite a sexy wee motor too).

Does anyone know where I'm going wrong with the race or what the best car for B Spec would be? I've completed most of B Spec including most of the endurance events but this Historic Car Cup in B spec is really bugging the * out of me...:31:

Any help and advice would be great. Thanks in advance everyone...:icon_mrgreen:

Learn how to instruct your B-Spec drivers throughout the race properly mate.

I'll be happy to help but I need a bit more info on your techniques and car set up.

As a quick car guide you want to adjust your downforce front and rear to as high as it goes and a gear ratio set up for max acceleration balanced with average top speed (you don't need a 200mph car for Cote d'Azur, it's pointless), adjust the LSD to the lowest (5) for torque and acceleration, this will help stop your driver spinning the wheels coming out of corners. Make sure you have the best tyres the event will allow.

The rest is down to the instructions you give your B-Spec driver and the hot/cool bar (that makes a huge difference in the way they drive) basically try to keep your driver in his comfort zone (where the arrow points on the bar on his profile) only instruct to overtake for clear opportunities and if you see the bar raise slow your driver down.

I can tell you a lot more but if you think it's the car then add me on PSN and I'll set my cars to online and let you borrow my Ferrari, Jag or Ford MK IV and you can use one of them for that event

    Thanks for the info...:icon_mrgreen:

I've got the full set of six drivers now with my top guy being class 30 and lowest guy at class 28. A lot of the races you can just stick him in a car that out performs everything else on the road and leave him to it but I have came across a couple of B Spec where you have to sit and monitor them and guide them through the race. The best example of that I can remember was the Ferrari challenge. I used a souped up Enzo in A Spec and in B Spec it was the most powerful car in Ferrari challenge but when I tried leaving him to it he got beat but when I instructed him properly like reducing pace for those horrible chicanes in Monza he won it comfortably.

In the Historic Racing Car Cup I've tried babysitting him in my 1970 Toyota race car which is the most powerful car in the race but in Cote Da Zure I just can't get him to overtake. He's just not aggressive enough. Although your guy builds up mental and physical strength as his class gets higher I was there was a separate for balls or aggression. Just checked and the car I've been using is the 1970 Toyota 7 Race Car, it kinda looks like a big go kart.

On Cote DaZure I always shortened the ratios for acceleration coz there's no good long straights at all but I'm pretty clueless about cars and I've never touched the differentials. I never knew what the significance of the hot/cool bar was thanks for that...:icon_mrgreen:

In B Spec mode a lot of the prize cars are bags a * but I was pleasantly surprised by the car I got for the Dream Car Cup, the big Racing By Citreon thing I hope for this nut I'm trying to crack it gives me something decent. I was thinking of spending all my money on the £20million old Ferrari racer, just coz it's gorgeous and eligible for that race.

Just curious: But have you had a shot of that 2011 Red Bull Prototype?. When I had to re register for PSN and start again I bought the track pack, paints and suits pack and the race car pack. You got 15 cars 3 go karts FFS:31: but in the bunch was a rather nice racing model new Challenger and that crazy Red Bull Prototype. I've had it up to 296Mph. It's great for getting through B Spec quickly and you don't need to wait until you're a level 40 driver.

Add me on PSN Stephen220378 and you can borrow one of my cars for the event. Like I said you have to pick and choose your overtake places, at the hairpin you can because your driver will dive up the inside, the chicane after the tunnel is risky but possible, the only other over taking place is the pit straight and the two following corners

I'm gonna take a note of that PSN ID for next week coz I'm the process of moving back home to my parents' gaff just now. Lost my job last week so can't afford to stay where I am. Pretty much everything I own is packed up but my PS3 and lap top I'm on just now will be last to be moved. My ID is bydo1492.

I wish I could use my Red Bull 2011 Prototype for that race coz it's the ultimate road bully and just forces its way past everyone with its sheer power. I've seen it in B Spec lap the top cars in the game within 3 laps...:56:

Mate the X2010 and X2011 are * cars, any clown without an ounce of ability can win with one of them, the beauty of Gran Turismo is making the best out of what you have, fine tuning your car to get the most out of it, take it from me I'm level 40 in both A-Spec and B-Spec, when I use an X2010/2011 I see it as cheating

The Red Bull thing came with the car pack I bought but I only use it for the long B Spec stuff like the 4 hour Suzuka endurance I done last week but in A Spec it would just ruin the game coz there's no competition. I like how in the seasonal events you can't use it or something like it and you have to carefully tune your car within the performance points limits. For months I was missing out on seasonal events because I had to re register but with the seasonal events and the other on line content I'm really enjoying GT5. When GT6 comes along I hope it's not held back so long it ends up on the PS4.

Once I've moved back home I'm gonna hook up my PS2 as well for my GT4, now that I know how B Spec works there's a wad of cash and cars to be won. My mate who used to play the B Spec bits in GT4 says there's a bit where you can speed up the time so that for a 24 hour B Spec endurance you don't have to keep the system running for a full day. He said he was surprised they removed the time speed up from GT5 but coz I'd never played GT4 in B spec I didn't know it existed.

That's half true, there was no dedicated B-Spec mode in GT4, basically you could choose to do any race in A-Spec or B-Spec and yes you could FF the race but whether you played it in A or B-Spec was irrelevant, it was a win towards your career mode regardless. In GT4 you could also alternate between yourself and the B-Spec driver in pitstops in endurance races
